Pros: Roomy aluminum case - SATA connectors short, but ok. Drive mounts easily. from Newegg.com Pros: Works good with Vista 32 and XP Cons: WONT work at all with my Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4 MB and VISTA64 (even though I have the latest drivers). The MB works with other thumb drives, my card reader, but NOT THIS ACOMDATA unit. I emailed Acomdata twice and received NO RESPONSE. from Newegg.com Pros: • Took about five minutes from opening the box, to screwing in the last screw.• Works very fast.• Shows drive's model name as the USB model name.• Supports both SATA and PATA.• Manual is in proper American English.• Only had two screws holding it closed and the other four in a bag in order to allow you to install the drive easier.• No need to plug a PATA cable in for PATA drives; you just put it in and slide it in.• Looks pretty nice. Cons: • The two screws that go in where the groove for the stand is are very slightly different from the other four, and you can easily mix them up. from Newegg.com I bought this external hard drive enclosure in Frys electronics. At first, my old computer did not see it and I was about to return it when I thought of reading the manual and google online if others have similar problems and sure enough. from Amazon.com It's a great enclosure. It looks nice, it works good, it's easy to install, and it's cheap. I didn't have to remove the SATA cables from it since I'm using a PATA drive; I was able to just fold them over in the case. It is held together with six screws, but four of them come in a Ziploc bag, rather than in the enclosure itself, so you only have to remove two when you first open it. from Newegg.com I tried this with both an old PATA/IDE and a new SATA drive; both worked flawlessly. The IDE drive required a jumper setting to "Master"; no jumpers were required for the SATA (WD Caviar). from Amazon.com Love the way it works with both SATA and PATA drives. Shoved a SATA 750GB Seagate drive in, and it runs like a champ. It's not going to be as fast as eSATA, but at this price, it's a winner for things like backing up your data, or as a huge "thumb drive" you can carry around (or grab-and-go in case of earthquake, fire, or flood). from Amazon.com Unlike some other external enclosures I tried, this one works. I've never owned a preassembled external hard drive, but I'm guessing that this might be bulky in comparison. Other Thoughts: I'm using this enclosure with a Seagate drive on a 2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook circa Fall 2007. from Newegg.com Pros: durable case, good heat dissipation.
