I returned this unit.
I've had this unit for just about a week now and I'm already preparing to send it back.
This is the latest 2008 model from Q-see.
The "Program Guide" will only go ONE program into future (some brands go 3 - 4 hours ahead) Big annoyance, is the COBY Remote that comes with it, TURNS OFF Sanyo TV its connected to, when you push "Up Channel" button!
I have had this item over a month.
The Bottom Line: The Coby DTV-102 is a good box at a great price, and it compares very favorably to the Zenith DTT901.
If you plan on doing security with this puppy - it has 250 GB hard drive.
Let me start the review by saying: THIS IS THE ONLY ITEM IN MY AMAZON HISTORY I'VE RETURNED!
Pros: Relatively easy set up.
I arrive myself incomplete, I need electricity cables, and the cable for the remote control I cannot use it until they solve the problem to me
I owned the Gefen HD-PVR for several months.
I can't really rate this receiver fairly because I only have the standard definition dish, and this receiver can't be activated without adding another dish to my roof.
I measured it with my Kill-A-Watt meter and this satellite box uses 40 watts minimum whether it's on or off.
It was cheaper to go to the Dish network, oops!
My only compliant may be more with the Dish Network, in that we were getting a lot of digital breakups and artifacts in the HD programming.
Anyway, we have the DISH Total HD package; nothing but HD bliss.
The IP addressable feature is handy if you want to keep sight on your premises through the Internet.
