Pure junk. Have owned it for 3 months and it has yet to be able to update the tv guide. from Amazon.com I bought this over the slingbox because with the tvportation plugin, advertised on their site, it does everything a slingbox does plus more. Only it doesn't. After a few grueling days with customer support (archos customer support makes verizon look good) I learned that the tvportation plugin has been canceled. It is still listed on their site, along with a video showing it in action. from Amazon.com I've been looking for a simple UPnP capable device to connect to my HDTV to stream video from a Cisco Linksys 500 GB Media Hub with LCD. At first I was thinking of getting a Dell Studio Desktop and a Logitech diNovo Mini to use as the remote, but this was starting to cost a ton! from Amazon.com Only problem is it only goes up to WMP 9 - which doesn't contain that required feature. Last I heard Microsoft has stopped developing it as well, so no chance that it will ever come out. So if you have a mac and want to watch your ripped DVD's or video files on this, don't bother, it won't work. I suppose if you want it for the other features (TV web browser, movie rentals and widgets) then its probably a good product. from Amazon.com I wanted to replace a VCR with a simple DVR that did not require a monthly payment for service. The Archos TV+ met all my needs. It is simple to set up (use the online PDF manual) and record to your hearts content. from Amazon.com As others have said: they won't help you. They won't respond to e-mail and their website doesn't let you ask without a special passcode - and they won't tell me how to create one because they don't respond to e-mails. Many video formats require that you purchase drivers...but I can't even do that because I can't create an account. In all, This is a great box. The 80 gb should be enough for anybody since its next worked to your pc and allows external hard drive to be plugged in. from Amazon.com The guide is easy to use. The unit came very quickly in the mail and works fine. it is very easy to transfer recorded video from the archos to my mac and pc just drag and drop. The guide only costs 20 bucks a year a good reason to use it and save money instead of a tivo. from Amazon.com Set up is not intuitive but not that hard just follow the downloaded users manaual because the one that comes with is not very detailed. My biggest dispointment is of the picture quaility of some of the recorded playback can be grainy depending on the station. I have mine connected to a vcr/dvd player since I don't use cable boxes to get my cable and the archos does not have a built in tuner. some of the features cost extra, for example browsing the net or some of the widgits. from Amazon.com
