I've had this HP Photosmart E317 for almost two years. Use it for taking still pictures of items I auction online. from Amazon.com Ok, I bought this for $103 for Christmas at the end of 2005. The second day I experienced problems, like it shutting off by itself. from Amazon.com Pros: -Small size -Good picture clarity (Makes excellent 4x6 prints) -Easy to use -Records video with audio -Cheap in price, but not quality!Cons: -No optical zoom and other advanced features are missing, but for the low price such sacrifices must be made -No optical viewfinder for taking pictures without the LCD -Built-in microphone is overly sensitive to wind and low-pitched sounds, causing the audio to easily cut out in video recording modeOther Thoughts: The HP Photosmart E317 isn't meant for professional or prosumer use, but it is definitely a good starter camera for those just getting into digital photography. This is a serious problem and probably why they don't manufacture it anymore. At this point the camera's unusable, the second one to blow up on me.
