Advantages: Lens, viewfinder, picture quality Disadvantages: Big, heavy, limited zoom, discontinued but still available ...inside the DSC-R1). So many people just blindly extol a camera's virtues because they feel they have justify to themselves (and others) why they spent such an inordinate amount of cash on one single item, and I certainly don't wany to be accused of that! It gives the impression of giving you more of an image than you would get from simply putting together 2 5MP images (like from my previous camera, the Sony F707), but more precisely it records the level of detail from a scene that I can resolve with my naked eye, and that is what I think creates the feeling of symboisis that I have with this camera.
