It is easy to use, takes excellent pictures. I would highly recommend it any time, and not only as a starter camera. because of its size, I often take it when I don't want to carry my bigger Panasonic Lumix 18X zoom. I had actually settled on another brand until a salesperson showed me pictures with my researched camera, and the Lumix. Good picture quality, great zoom, good video, but one month after the warranty expired the camera had a fatal error that requires it to be sent back to the factory for repairs. Not a good solution for Panasonic's flat rate of 161 bucks for repair. Never again will I buy a Panasonic from Newegg.com My only gripe is that when you take a picture, it takes several seconds before it is ready to shoot again (I'm speaking of indoors with flash). For the price, I don't think there is a better camera on the market. I own three Panasonic cameras (all different models) and they have never given me any trouble. from Amazon.com
