Almost every shot came out great and I had not read the first page of instructions in the user manual. Since then I have experimented with the manual settings and filters and have had some amazing results. I think I paid less than $700 for the camera, a 1 GB SD card (recommended) an extra battery and three year extended warranty. After using the camera, I could say that I would be happy, even if I paid $1,000 for the whole set up. from Yahoo.com Then the camera stopped recording. As it costs about $130 to mail in for service, it makes more sense to purchase another camera. Last month...the zoom lever completely jammed, and the mode selector is also nearly jammed...completely disappointing, and what was worse was the price quote from Canon to repair (good customer service in calling to report the problem...emailed the link to me immediately and got back to me with the price quote quickly after I shipped it to them) but the price quote - 130$!
