but what really blew my mind is when i took my sd card out of the camera and put it into my 1080p panasonic viera hdtv - it identified and played back the video (and photos) instantly and beautifully

it produces high quality dvds and blu-ray discs, and it outputs hd directly to my 1080p hd television through component and hdmi connections (the camera only outputs and records up to 1080i though).

the xp seems to be about the quality of a 720p television, so i'm hoping the uxp will be 1080p quality.

remember this camcorder records in avchd format which i believe is equivalent to 1080i, not 1080p.

it looks amazing on my 42" toshiba ,i'd almost say as good as my sony true 1080p dvd camcorder which if i may say is great but those little dvd's only hold 12-15min of video this will do 2hrs.

if you're very picky with quality and used to seeing only 1080p videos, then you'll definitely be disappointed, but you have to keep in mind the size of this camera and its purpose.
