Best Camcorders for Still Pictures

flash performance for still pictures is poor.

taking still pictures is reasonably easy, and the camera's ability to focus and take a decent photo at full zoom is incredible.

took still pictures to the sd drive that were better than expected.

in fact, still pictures from the video are very acceptable for websites or most computer uses.

for small inserts on youtube, etc., i believe a kodak type 8-10mp camera does the job as it also takes brief, low quality video while delivering high quality still photos.

the only thing i would add is have the camara be able to take a still photo rather than take a video and using the software to capture a still shot.

big shoes to fill, i was willing to compromise slightly on video-replacement had to have sdhc, very small form factor, and decent still photo function.

video is jerky, and it was a chore to get a still photo that wasn't blurred in some way.

i do wish it had a still picture option but oh well.

i find it strange for this camera not to have still picture capabilities, as you would most probably need to take still pictures while you are shooting your video.

using the computer installed software, you can easily extract any frame of the video for a still picture to save on your computer, email and/or print.

i think of the short videos i take as "long pictures" they really capture what is going on better than a still photo.
