buy a camcorder is ease of use and low lux, its terrible when you can't record decent footage when the lights are dim, this camcorder is satisfactory when it comes to recording in low light indoors.
into one small package (it fits in a large pocket - very easy to tote around but not very impressive to an actor on the set!) the low light performance is something that some have complained about.
some people point out a picture quality at low-light situations, but i found it acceptable.

wonderfully compact, straighforward with its touch screen lcd menu display, incredible low light capabilities, and overall obviously the hd quality image.
(no additional moving parts such as a hard drive or mini dvd) the stabilization and zoom is fantastic and unlike most camcorders this model has the night shot feature which allow low light recording.

first off, neither of these cameras are brilliant in low light.
it holds a ton of clips, works really well in low-light situations, and focuses wonderfully.
the video is beautiful, especially in low light, which was a concern since i read many reviews of other video cameras that indicated the low light performance was not very good.
also, the cameras image quality in low-light scenarios is average -- so the vl-5 light (another accessory) comes in handy and seems to work very well with this camera.

low light recording was pretty good in 24p mode, though the normal modes were a bit noisy.
in low light (night time) quality are almost the same.
the low-light performance of the hf-11 is abysmal, & there are some issues with artifacts & "noise," even in adequate light.
excellent picture quality, better, in my estimation, in low-light than the newer models, easy to use, small.
