it makes for nice videos especially around water but i wish the photos had the quality of a big lenz camera and the proper color for the blue tones.
also it uses sdhc memory cards instead of sony's expensive memory stick.
if you're looking for small camcorder with excellent picture and do not care much about the price, this canon hf s100 is the one.

this camera is relatively expensive but worth it if you want true hd in your home videos.

great for outdoors, and not bad in low light either, at least for capturing non-professional home video of the family.
it is tiny and light and can be mounted (through a small universal mount, purchased from other place) to my windshield quite stable.
having downloaded some test video to my windows xp pc, i noticed that each video file has a separate 3k document that tags the video as being full or widescreen.

from what i've seen on vimeo and read on forums, other hd cameras in the panasonic line up like the hvx and hpx, offer just about the same image quality but their prices are thousands more and you're
finely tuning focus or creating massive depth of field and soft backgrounds with ease, i think the focus ring is actually better than that of some of the more expensive p2 cameras panasonic offers.
the recording media is very affordable, i bought to 16gb class 6 sdhc cards when i purchased this camera and so far is the easiest format to use especially if you come from a background using dslr's.
to put such tiny sensors in a $3500 is poor, cheap engineering especially when slr have larger sensors, shoot hd and don't cost this much.
it is well worth the price.
even though the price is high you are getting a 12.1 mp camera too so its worth it.
most consumer gps devices only reserve 1gb or so for map data, thus sony really cheaped out with the navtec maps.
the included software and downloaded update makes is easy to transfer, store, and search downloaded content to my pc running windows vista 64-bit.
another ridiculous error on the sonystyle.com site is the retail price on its newest compatible 37mm wide-angle lens.
it is a reasonable price for a good product and would recommend it if you are not extra fussy over picture quality.

the sony hdr-cx100 is an excellent camcorder for the price.
i took my camcorder to the beach and it captures all sounds--the seagulls, the wind, the waves, everything.
it's comparable or better quality to other cell phones or digital cameras in the price range of the mino hd.

so for anyone looking for high quality hd video in a small, light, inexpensive package and does not require a zoom lens this is a terrific product.
i shot the same area of my office (dark reddish brown walls, windows with drapes over roman shades, another building blocking out the light.
video quality of both camcorders in broad daylight is comparable.
when i plugged the camera in via usb, the camera mounted up as a drive, as did a 19mb drive with what appears to be some video software for windows.
luckily, there is an additional record button on the flip-out viewing window.
without that ability, i find this camera too expensive for what it does do and intend to return it.
this panasonic sdr-s26 camcorder is by far the best you can buy for the price, and is rated best camcorder of 2009 ces!
i simply transfer the videos where i want them via the usb interface, and watch them using windows media player.
you won't find high optical zoom, hd video, and low price.
for every day i can't find a better value - love this camera and sellers excellent service - highly recomend to friends - relatives - heck everyone!
