without time to read directions thoroughly, bought this camcorder because of the 70x zoom to use on animal hapenings.
sure it is a basic camcorder but for the price you get optical image stabilization that really works, 70x optical zoom, pocket size, and youtube upload.
this panasonic sdr-s26 camcorder is by far the best you can buy for the price, and is rated best camcorder of 2009 ces!
it's clear, crisp and really light weight.
it's small and light, and the battery life is pretty good.
what's great about it:?convenient, easy to use, uses rechargeable or aa batteries "great to carry in pocket or purse so it is always handy.
zoom- this is one of the bad things about it- they sacrificed optical zoom to make it more compact and less complicated and put on digital; the quality doesn't degrade that badly, but it's noticeable.
the only reason that it can't serve as my primary camcorder is that the zoom is extremely limited as you'll see in the video.
basically it has no zoom but these types of camcorders usually have useless digital zooms, so its no big deal to me.
all in all, a fantastic product and only half the price, with twice the recording capacity (in hd!) of a regular dvc camera.
A lot of people are wanting to do an apples to oranges review with this camera.
Drops frames like crazy with image stabilzation is on...
It is my third digital camcorder.
I find the best stable picture is obtained by holding the camcorder in right hand while supporting the flipped out LCD screen with your left.
I got this to take outdoor video of my kids playing soccer and football.
Absolutely love this camera, its small compact, easy to carry around.
This camera easily transfers data from the camcorder or just using the SDHC cards directly inserted to any PC.
If you are looking for a great HD camcorder this one is a great choice.
I have been using the Samsung HMX H100 for about a month now, and it performs quite well.
Just bought this camera tonight at HH Greg.
Am very well satisfied with the camcorder.
Having said this, if you want crystal clarity when played on your high-def TV, consider purchasing the high-def camcorder.
For the price, it is decent.
Good camcoder ....
Great camara, you really get for what you play, it's really small, so that is perfect to carry around in purse!
we got acceptable quality when we filmed outdoors in full sunlight.
i use windows xp service pack 3 and it only works with vista or service pack 2.
i'll start by saying what everyone else is saying, for the price, this camera is a gem.
excellent camcorder for the price, got it few days from 6th ave.
but overall, a+, especially given the price i bought this at (around $300 on amazon).
+ Solidly constructed camera and my first underwater camcorder, the challenges of all underwater devices is adequately fitting rubber gaskets and seals to metal and this camera did just fine even down to 25 ft when I took out on lazy beach day.
After reading some of the negative reviews I was hesitant to purchase this camera.
This Sanyo camera offers HD video, the ability to take photos and a lightweight camera all-in-one.
At first sight, this little machine looks almost perfect: an up to 10 feet waterproof, compact, dual camera/camcorder.
Bought this for our holiday in USA and Canada - We saw Niagara falls (very wet!), we jet boated (extremely wet!), we jet skiied (and fell in!), we white water rafted (and the force of the wave shut the door of the camera so it turned off!).
MOD" format on the camera, sorry Canon I've never heard of it.
Considering the price, this camera is outstanding.
The Canon provided software for the Mac only handles the JPEG images.
First let me review this camcorder.
Great camera, simple, easy, good quality video.
B) Two choices for sound: Seperate sound (best) or get the panasonic/beachtek adapter for on camera.
In short words: "the new Panasonic AG-HCM40 is not the best camera money can buy but ,to my opinion, it's the best camera money can buy for this price!!
The camera does come however with a 3 year warranty (activated once you register) so Panasonic at least believes its good for 3 years of semi-pro use.
This camera deserves "6 Stars" on image quality.
This camera is truly an amazing piece of equipment.
God bless Sanyo for not using AVCHD -- a format requires not only software but also hardware upgrade if you want to watch your video on your PC.
The only issue for that reason i rat 4 of 5 stars is about the issue with the accessorie Sanyo wide conversion lens on the manual can be read is an accessorie for the HD1010 also same for the HD1000 but when i received the lens i notice that the came...
Before HD camcorders became available I had a DV (tape based; standard definition) camcorder.
Can anyone tell me how fast is one cycle(actual time between taking 1 pic.
I purchased this camcorder based on the great reviews this Sanyo Xacti camcorder received...
When I video record in 1080 mode, the mov file plays back fine on Apitek camcorder.
For the Aiptek HD GVS1080p, it works as shown on sites with sample videos (be sure to check it out).
AT FIRST I WAS SKEPTICAL, HD CAMCORDER FOR $215 ?
Battery lasts for only a few minutes.
Bought this to replace my mini dv camcorder.
After some research and because I own a Panasonic Camera.
So far so good - excellent zoom, audio quality, nice to have so much recording time to the HDD.
Bought this camera for $359, which I thought was a great price for the 60GB HDD and the 70x optical zoom.
First off, I was looking for a replacement for my JVC mini-DV camcorder which I used extensively last year.
I bought the Panasonic SDR-H80 digital video camera from Best Buy yesterday (May 23, 2009).
I played with it at CES and just fell in love...
I bought this camcorder to replace a Sony DSR-PD170.
This particular camera is HD specifically AVCHD and gives me full 1080 X 1920 in the AG mode; this is not the default I had to choose it in the settings; higher the resolution higher the storage on the built in card.
I've had the Panasonic HDC-TM300 for a little over a month now and have had several occasions to test it out in a multitude of situations and exposure levels.
The 3 chip sensor design can be attributed to that.
because of the bad reviews i almost did not buy.
Double Whammy.
I love this camera because with my old miniDV camcorder you have to spend the same time playing the recorded video in order to transfer to your computer and convert the film to a file but now I just plug this camcorder via USB and my desktop can reco...
i found this product good but i didnt found the product how i thought ..it looks good in the picture
I purchased a DCR-SX60 16GB Handycam® Camcorder directly from Sony.
If you're in the market for an HD (Hi-Def) camcorder, this is the value winner.
I purchased this camcorder a few months back and have used it extensively to shoot under various lighting scenarios.
The picture is awsome.
JVC support says the camera makes no larger than 4gb file.
I am not disappointed in the pictures but it is a HD camcorder and the video is excellent.
And guess what it's 1080p as appose to 1080i only for the SSD models from samsung.
I have had this one for about 2 weeks....
I love the form factor, touch screen, and specification for this camcorder.
I will try and update this as I learn about all the features of this camera.
Incredibly small!
Great camera, it has a fast auto focus and the features are easy to use.
Great product, picture quality from Canon still needs improvement but for the price of the camera it is user friendly and reasonable.
I bought a video camcorder so I could download recordings onto my computer, edit the video and create short video clips which could be sent to clients.
MiniDV is almost history, but we are using it and so are many others.
I purchased this camera to replace my other Canon ZR100, which just wore out.
I just purchased the JVC Everio MS 130 color blue, a week ago.
I'm a camcorder newbie and bought the JVC MS130BU basically on an impulse at Walmart.
I've just begun testing this camcorder, and it seems to work very well.
Cons: file format is imcompatible with nearly all generally accepted video format and included JVC software is next to impossible to use.
Other Thoughts: I was shopping for a camcorder and after reading up on all of the current models out that were in my price range I headed out to get my hands on some and do some comparisons myself.
the included windows software would not install on my windows me machine, so i assume that it is for xp and vista (nothing in the docs about this), as is most windows software today.
there are also options to adjust for backlight, face detection, a number of different scene modes (sports, outdoors, etc.), and interval timer.
also, windows xp can't thumbnail these files like it can .avi files (canon uses), so you can't preview them in explorer or my computer.
this little camera is great for the price.good quality vidio even in lower light .
no, the picture quality is not as good as camcorders many times the price, nor can one expect it to be.
It has amazing quality for a mini HD camcorder!
I found the product is not easy to operate, No built in memory, Needs only Sony specific memory
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1IOJ6DK2FO1C5 My video "review" isn't really a full review...it's mainly to setup some actual [handheld] footage taken with the webbie.
The Sony Webbie is a great idea.
First of all i want to say how awesome and quick Amazon Warehouse deals sent this little camcorder to me.
Wize.com wants to improve! Will you please help by taking a quick survey?
