I USED THIS PRODUCT FOR AWILE NOW AND I HAVE TO SAY ITS UP THERE WITH THE BEST. THE #1 REASON IS THE PIC QUALITY//I THINK THAT IS THE ONE THING EVERYBODY LOOKS FOR IN A CAMERA. ALSO THE SOUND QUALITY IS GREAT, YOU DONT GET MUCH RECORDING TIME BUT THAT ALSO DEPENDS ON THE TYPE OF DVD DISKS YOU BUY TOO, from Wolfcamera.com took it back and bought this one. I'm very happy. if u can affort to get onewith hd I recommend it cause the resolution will be much better than standard.little hassle but u can record it with minidvd cd-rw and burn it to a standard dvd andthe image is still way better than a standard and alsou can watch on any dvd. it's all about the image quality for me.sooner or later, hd will become standard format.surprisingly, it came with 2 zoom option, 30x and 700x. from Circuitcity.com No grainy picture in even dark areas. I have a 60'' plasma and it looks amazing. the only reason the rating is low is because people dont know before buying it that if you record on an AVCHD format it will not play in most DVD players. I shot a whole vacations full of video only for the camera to keep telling me the disks can't be read. I went to the panasonic site and the link I needed was down. I would not have bought this format had I known what I know now...but it's your money. from Amazon.com i love this camera because with this i taking a really beautiful photos....beside the video is really crispy clear..and with the 70inches high definition samsung tv is espectacular....some body know if is posible get a still camera from panasonic with the same hd photos???? from Amazon.com I purchase the HDC-DX1 about a month ago and have been very happy with the picture quality, the picture enhancement features, etc. I was disappointed to find out after my purchase that I needed special software to download the content to, and edit it on, my computer and probably need a Blue Ray DVD burner to be able to create edited disks. from Amazon.com You really have to be in the Blue-Ray camp to enjoy this camera fully. If you have a Sony Play Station 3 you're set for playback and the future with Blue-Ray for High Definition movies. Otherwise you will need a Blue-Ray player for playback of the miniDVDs and any other regular DVDs you record to. Also, so far it's one of the last camcorders from Panasonic with 5.1 sound and High Definition recording, which is a big plus for sound. from Amazon.com Newegg service and delivery times just outstanding. Cons: Though the lithium battery will cover most avg. shooting lengths, price of 2nd battery as backup for long trips ($107 was the cheapest I could find); Not having even one media disk w/ camera Rear battery design looks awkward (Note to Panasonic design engineers - What would Apple do?) HD Video Editing level requires more powerful processor, disk space, memory and blue-ray read/write drive (i.e., new computer) along with proper AVCHD video editing software is a requirement if you wish to do more than just shoot and burn your own mini-dvd discs on the camcorder.
