When shopping for a great digital camcorder to capture the great outdoors, look for one with a large LCD display panel so that it's easier to see what you are recording. Try to find a model with an LCD panel that's at least 2.5 inches. The larger, the better.
And since you're out in the wilderness, you don't want to carry around bulky tapes or CDs either. A
camcorder with a digital hard drive or one that records onto small
flash memory cards will be more convenient and easier to carry around.
Outdoor digital camcorders vary drastically in price. If you're on a very tight budget, you can get models for $200 or less, but don't expect them to have all the bells and whistles (or the picture quality) of a more expensive model that may cost around $1,500.
