i think that if you want to wow your friends even with your family video work, it is worth learning how to work on a pro platform at this price, especially since it contains some cinescore basics
i only use it for processing hd home movies.
for me $500 is alot to pay for software (as a consumer doing this for friends and family) but after the hours tearing my hair out with substandard software im buying this.
but if you want to make quick and easy home movies..ie for video casts, youtube etc...
for home movies/videos/occasional user, go with the msp.
this video editor is able to read .vob file from dvd's created from vcr tapes, making it great for editing the old family videos.
so my pick for best of the best home / studio video editors would hands down be sony vegas movie studio 8 for it's professional look and feel, useability, features, excellent dvd architect software,
it's great softwarefor home users and for professitional user.

i should say that one of the reasons that it's so enjoyable is that we also got a home dock and a car setup, it would still be fun with just the machine but of course, not so versitile.
on vista home premium it took me over an hour to get the software installed(i work in the it field so this should have been a no brainer).
it also imported all of my xbox live friends into my zune social homepage.
adobe premiere elements 3.0 is the best home video editing product on the market.
simple and great video editing software considering it is for the normal and home user.
it's a good piece of software for the home enthusiast.
if you're looking for the wow factor from family and friends, you'll get it with this program.
this supposedly dumbed down version of premiere pro was just what i needed for editing some old home movies.
this is a big problem if you have more than one computer (work, home, laptop).
which by the way manages to freeze all sorts of secondary computers around the house,e.g.
my amd k6-2 500s are still running on the home network, and i don't really see much of a difference when opening regular programs.
one at work and one at home.cons: nothing to report thus far.other thoughts: i decided to choose 2 issues from photoshop user magazine as a gratuity for purchasing the cs2 upgrade and for some reason
i support them at work and use them at home.
it took me 3 or 4 days to get this program installed and working on my laptop (2ghz dualcore processor, 3gb ram, ati radeon mobile, fresh install of window vista home premium 32bit).
the license allows an additional install on a laptop or home computer, provided you don't use that copy at the same time as the main install.
- a few enhancements on transparency etc but nothing to sing home about.
the bottom line: good for casual video editing for the average home user, but make sure your pc is up to it and you have the latest patch.
my primary purpose for buying this product was to create dvd versions of my home movies...all those tapes cause quite a clutter, and some of the older ones are slowly degrading.
i gave it 5 stars because this program does more than i expected and enables me to produce a good quality, interesting to watch home movie for a reasonable price.
i tried the dvd on a laptap and also my home dvd player and everything works great!!!
otherwise, you're home free.

family and friends love getting picture collages of events (great way to document the party or outing onto a single sheet, especially when some of the shots just aren't clear enough or special enough

later, i wanted to add this collection to my home office and went back to the same store where the original version was bought.
the bundle that i bought contained 1 wrong disc (disc 3 was actually disc 30) - one phone call and a new one was sent to my house no questions asked.
unless you are making cds and dvds for professional use, if you are looking at this product just as a home consumer you may want to rethink.
since it was called "discpainter", i was expecting a commercial-type painted disc capability for home use.
hands down, this was the perfect $300 investment for my home recording studio.
my discpainter has quickly become one of the most popular electronic tools in my household.
perfect for people who like to burn cds for friends and family.

so if you're still running 2k pro this is a 5 star program but be ready to battle on xp home.
you get a feeling from software, from corel's home page, from other sources: i don't like it, and won't buy it.
on my pc (1.6ghz p4, 1gb ram, 250 gb harddisk, nvidia geforce fx 5950 256 mb videocard, windows xp home sp1), routine operations like loading a selection or changing the zoom level, and even saving,
i have used it already on a couple of trips as well as at home.
