If you're looking for something in between Final Cut Pro and iMovie, this is probably the software for you. The interface is very simple, practically no learning curve.
Vegas is just what the name implies. Its a crap shoot as to whether or not it will work.
I have paid about ten times as much for a lesser product. I could not be more pleased with the use and results.
Pros: Software has several features and allows for fairly detailed editing. Works well with HD format (AVCHD) from camcorders.
Buyer Beware! I took delivery of this product from Amazon on 28 August 2008.
I've been frustrated in finding a Windows based video editing software that was easy to use yet provided all the perks to make a good home movie. I've tried many but Vegas Movie Studio 8 is by far the best.
I went from using Windows Movie Maker to Vegas Movie Studio 8 Platinum Edition. I lost a lot of quick convenient presets but gained intimate control over all transitions in my movies.
Product is OK. Fairly user friendly and does job for what I need.
Pros: Pinnacle Studio 12 is a huge consumption of system resources and at this time, my system is not compatible; however, Sony Vegas Studio 8 Platinum is not that big of a hog and my video can be edited without a hitch. I am still learning this product, but am overall pretty satisfied.
I was referred to the Vegas Movie Studio 8 Platinum by someone that has vast knowledge with developing VS4. I was telling them that I couldn't get the chroma-key feature to work very well with their program, and they suggested I purchase Vegas 8.
