i would rank this product 5 out of 5 stars if it weren't for the one setback of not having an energy saver mode by which it turns itself on and off every 2 or 4 hours.
i have been using this product for over 2 months and it has performed very well.the controls are easy to use and the collection container is easy to empty.
i took the dehumidifier out of the box, plugged it in and within 20 minutes it took out an impressive amount of moisture.
i didn't want to spend $200 on a dehumidifier that lasts one season.
the water bucket only holds 2 1/2 gallons of water, so we empty it at least once daily.
that was purchased in 2003 and worked well for a couple years but gradually began to fail.?
other thoughts: this is our first week with the product, but so far, it works much better than the previous 2 emerson quiet kools we have owned.
we purchased this product after lightning wiped out the amcor dehumidifier we used in our 2500 sq.
this frigidaire model offers 20 more pints than any other dehumidifier than i could find at the price of $200, so it's a great value.
the frigidaire fdf70s1 seems to be a very effective dehumidifier, as it was able to reduce the humidity in a large room by approximately 20% in about three hours.
this is my second dehumidifier and it seems much more solid than the first which died after 2 years.
this product takes 2+ gallons of water per day out of the air.

i've had the dehumidifier for 2 months.
i've weighed mine repeatedly on a postal scale and the cyclic change shows it's working - it will absorb and release about 1/2 cup (4 oz) of water.
it will last for about 2 weeks or so , then the bb`s in it will turn pink and you can see a little mosture in the glass housing the bb`s , which means the unit needs to be recharge , or dryed out .
when the silica has absorbed water and turned pink, you take it away from the area you're trying to dehumidify, plug it into a wall, and a 20 watt heater inside the case gently heats the silica and
putting things in the oven for 3 hours (or 15 hours at 275 f as the envelope types needed) takes up a lot of energy as well as requiring you to pay attention to it (granted, not a lot of attention

they said i was suppose to run it 24/7.

it doesn't look that big in the pictures, but it is about 2' high, 1' wide, and 10" deep.
it has many options re: how long you want it to run ie: continuous, economy, or at 2 different humidity levels.
