although the bucket is easy to empty(once i figured out how to remove it) i hooked up a garden hose and ran it into the basement drain.
i hooked it up to a drainage hose, to eliminate emptying the bucket.
the hose hook-up for having it drain directly into a slop sink and not having to empty the water pan every couple of days is great.
if you want to attach a hose, just connect it up; without the hose, the water drains from the hose connector into the bucket.
if you want to use the unit continuously, you can attach a garden hose to an outlet on the unit and it will constantly drain and will run without interruption.
through it easily, and then attach it firmly to the threaded outlet inside the dehumidifier, and make sure it runs downhill to a drain, you shouldn't need to open the pan except to clean the filter.

the original plan was to use the delonghi's pump, but then i discovered that i have a floor drain.
worked beautifully for about 6 months, then drain pump went out, 2 weeks later the whole unit got really noisy and stopped working.
i ran the discharge hose to the ac drain, so it runs unattended.
