it is an appliance, so it does generate some heat when running for long periods of time, so take that into consideration.
although i haven't had it that long, it is very well built, no rattles, and definetly pulls the water from the air.
seems solidly made but time will tell as to how long it will last.

quick delivery and once set up notice a big difference in the basement, the older dehumidifier worked three times longer and it still smell musty.
this will be welcomed in the winter, but in the summer it raises the temp in my basement 2-3 degrees when running for long periods.
i hope it lasts as long as my old one.
it may be larger than necessary but my logic is that it will last longer with better results and be less expensive in the long term.
the frididaire 70 pint seemed to have all the features i needed and hoped it would last me a long time.
i decided to purchase this product because i felt that, while it was fairly expensive to purchase, it would be more effective and cost less in the long term for electricity (due to its efficiency
we expected it to run non-stop for several days if not longer at the beginning, but didn't expect such a dramatic and wonderful difference in the feel and smell of the basement so quickly.
our summmer has been long, hot and humid but thanks to this appliance our basement is bone dry.it only took 2 days of constant running to completely dry it out...yeah!
we've only had it a couple of months though, so i can't say what the long-term performance is like.
it is one piece so there are no leaks...important to me because i have to use a 25ft hose to reach the basement sump and the backpressure from such a long hose almost always caused the inserted tube
i have not had it long enough to test its effectiveness so i bought several more for other rooms in the home to see how much difference it makes.
i haven't had it long enough to determine the life of the silica contained within, but i've recharged my units at least 10 times and found no decline in the effectiveness of the product.
i love that it's renewable and easy to use, and i feel a lot better since it's in an enclosed case; i no longer have to worry about pet poisoning or toxicity like i have in the past with those white
after a few days (longer depending on the moisture level of the space it is used) the beads turn pink and the user simply plugs the unit it to recharge the beads.
the mildew is visibly less and takes a longer time to build up.
an issue not related to the product: we had a very long hose connected to it to drain it out and it worked great.
while i can't speak about the long-term durability of this product, so far so good!
but after 5 long, continuous months of operation, this product is truly fantastic.
time will tell if it can last longer than the others but based on other reviews i am optimistic.
the 40 pint won't do a better job of pulling the moisture, it just will take longer before you have to empty it out.
it has many options re: how long you want it to run ie: continuous, economy, or at 2 different humidity levels.
i can't attest to its long-term reliability because i only have the experience of a few weeks, but if you're concerned about that, then it does have a 2-year warranty.
it is amazing and our bathroom is no longer wet all day long.
plenty long enough, i'd say to know how i like it.
hopefully, the new unit will last longer, but i can certainly vouch for excellent customer support from bionaire should you encounter problems yourself.
i haven't had the dehumidifer for very long, but it seems to be drying out this one closet that has always smelled musty.
a long as i "renew" the eva dry about once a week, the odor seems to have gone away!
as it needs to be used long term in order for a true assessment, i can't say much about it at this point.
i'm not giving it 5 stars yet, because i haven't had it long enough to determine its reliability and low-temperature de-icing capability.
i used to be able to hear the unit running when i was on the first floor, but no longer.
after another week i called whirlpool again, and after a long talk with an operator, was finally informed that it in fact had never been shipped!!
