i purchased this appliance to remove moisture from an unfinished basement/work shop located on an island in lake huron; i.e.,very humid.
everything else works exactly as described in the manual and my basement is now dry.

the unit has been continuously operating reliably for over five years maintaining a comfortable 65% relative humidity, eliminating mold and mildew; without excessive noise.
the bottom line: too loud unless you are going to close the door to the basement.

take unit out of box, attached drain hose to bucket, set unit on top of slop sink in basement with hose into the sink.
