To date, they do not appear to have absorbed ANY water. Thinking that they might be dry because it has been less humid, we hung a disposable unit in the same closet -- which filled up in less than six weeks. Now I bought large plastic container with lid where I put humidity measuring device, violin and Eva-dry.
