Most of my recipes recommend doing a first fry at a different temperature than 375F which is the biggest problem with most deep fryers. You often cannot adjust the temperature. from Amazon.com The biggest problem with buying on-line is determining the country of origin of the products. This device is made in China, for those who want to know. from Amazon.com My main objective was to fry vegetables. It took about 10-12 minutes to get to the desired temperature and was able to maintain the temperature fairly quick once the fries was dumped into the pan. The magnetic plug is somewhat pain but all deep fryers have the same magnetic plug so there is no way going around it. If you are trying to feed more than 4-5 people or don't have time for multiple batches I suggest you try double pan fryers. from Amazon.com
