Unfortunately, the first time we used it, we discovered that the timer knob was broken. We were able to cook with it and it worked as advertised. I called Rival to get a replacement knob. They did not have any knobs or units in stock and so are sending me a comparable unit for free. from Buy.com Pros: Takes up space, if that's what you want. Cons: Pure J-U-N-K (Typical for Rival) from Shopzilla.com I had wanted a deep fryer for a long time and after comparing several models, I selected the Rival. I have been most pleased with its performance. from Cooking.com It also reduces the smell that you get from frying foods. I have had no problem with anything breaking, and I use it quite often.
