I am replacing my old Westbend the teflon is bad. I love this crockpot. I love that you can brown your roast before cooking all in the same pan. Too bad they can't make it without the teflon, however this teflon is much better than my old one. LOVE IT!! from Qvc.com This is absolutely wonderful. I was worried about purchase this slow cooker because it didn't have a crock type insert. I thought it would burn and not cook even. However, my crock type got so hard to clean EVERYTHING stuck to it so, I decided to give this a try. I am so GLAD I did. It cooks very evenly everything just falls apart and is sooooo tender. We tried a crock pot but it cracked after a short time so we went back to the teflon coated West Bend slow cookers and will stay with them until it is time to replace. We like the feature of being able to cook in the West Bend and then transer to the refrigerator after it cools down if we want. The only problem is that the tephlon breaks down after 4 or 5 years of use, but I use this cooker at least 4 times a week. My husband has a habit of grabbing metal utensils and he is not gentle with their use. I think that the first one would still be in use if he would only grab a plastic or wooden spoon. As long as he helps out with the cooking duties I can afford to replace it every 4 or 5 years. That is a huge time and mess saver...you can easily brown meat or saute onions then put it all right on the base and add the rest of the items. I think I would use it less if separate pans were required to brown, etc. The food is great! I've never made such tender chicken and beef, also made a couple of soups that were wonderful! A full length eye round roast fit very easily.
