But Cook's Illustrated had been so emphatic in their recommendation, that I finally threw caution to the wind and got the All-Clad with the ceramic insert (mine, from Williams-Sonoma, has the white insert, and I'd assume it's pretty much the same).

I saw a review for the All-Clad slow cooker on Cook's Illustrated on PBS and I trust their reviews, but while the slow cooker is beautiful and works wonderfully, I feel like I probably shouldn't have spent so much on this product.
