everything i have made in it so far--pot roast, lettuce wraps, chicken soup, and even an entire chicken--turned out unimaginably delicious and never burnt!
i bought this crock pot a week ago and have used it a couple of times (beef stew and whole chicken) and both times, the meal came out great.
just finished 7 hours slow cooked baby back ribs with favorite bbq sauce.
my wife made a beef stew in it which she found wonderful and, again, just the easiest to do.
followed the instructions & the pot roast/veggies were delish.
all cuts of meat come out tender.
pros: durable, easy to clean, even heating best uses: dorm rooms, elaborate meals, large kitchens, simple meals, small kitchens describe yourself: avid cook, health conscious
This item advertises that it has a delay start.
Pros: Perfect 6.5 qt.
This is an awesome slow cooker, I highly recommend .
i put some tnt in mine and it bluw up and thats how i coock up my pot roast.so if you want a good pot roast add a lot of tnt and it will do the rest but find a new place to live frist before you blow
from pot roast to chilli, we use it for most serious cooking.
high liquid recipes like broth based soups are ok, but thicker food like stew, chili, etc.
I had one of the newer Smartpot crock pots and found that it got way too hot.
It is a nice way to learn slowcooking.
i sent this defective unit back for refund and will likely eventually try the hamilton beach 3-in-1 model instead, which at least appears to be a bit better crafted (less plastic,
add to all this the somewhat flimsy plastic side handles (which i would scarcely trust when empty) and indeed an overall abundance of cheap plastic parts.
i have never used the probe and i don't think it is a very useful feature as cooking meat to a specific temperature is not usually something you do in a slow-cooker or crock pot.
it has a prob (i have not used yet) to use on meat, or corn bread, etc.
Do not buy this crock pot.
it overcooked every meat i've tried (roast, ribs, chicken and country style pork boneless ribs).
i had a 5 quart slowcooker that i was planning to use for my christmas roast so that i could comfortably cook the rest of my dinner without having to cook around a roast in the oven.
I bought this to have a larger size cooker as well as my smaller one.

I have always used this brand of slow cooker.
i started it out on high for the first hour and then turned it down to low, so it took 7-1/2 hours for the turkey thighs to come to 180 which made me feel like they were safely cooked long enough.
for the low cost, i would not have expected it to be more heavy duty.
even so, this slow cooker did not boil over despite broth being just 1/2" below the top edge.
I've just used my Kalorik slow cooker for the first time and it did a good job.
This slow cooker arrived with its ceramic pot broken into many pieces.
very nice its the right size for dinner meals very conveint for agood size roast
it dries out your meat.
the oval shape is good for cooking a roast or chicken.
It did burn the bottom of the Slow Cooker Lasagna I made, though.
I received this slow cooker for Christmas.
i also opted for the oval shape this time around in the event that i should ever do a full roast (i used to have to cut mine in half with my old crock pot) or a whole chicken.
when i wanted to upgrade to a large size slow cooker the hamilton beach was my first choice, largely owing to its reasonably inexpensive price and the simplicity of operation.
after five years i've yet to have any complaints about its durability or service.
pros: rubber gasket seal inside lid prevents steam/liquid from escaping; keep warm feature cons: no cord keeper or rubber feet the bottom line: slow cooking is the way to go and this
to their credit hamilton beach will probably send me a whole new cooker but i have to pay to send the base to them first.
This slow cooker did what it needed to do, and I have been pleased with the results.
I purchased this cooker as a Christmas gift for my fiancee's Mother and she was duly impressed with it's finish and how well it worked even on the first attempt.
I searched high and low for a cooker that is NOT made in the People's Republic of China.
I use the crockpot quite a bit, and I own 3 West Bend crockery cookers (including this model).
The West Bend website wasn't helpful.
the meats in kentucky burgoo and green pepper steak overcooked in a short amount of time.
i've cooked a chuck roast w/veggies
Awesome slow cooker...biggest quart capacity I could find out there!
Bought this and was happy with it for two years.
I bought this cooker for my wife because she said she wanted one that was bigger than the old crock pots, and it is bigger plus somewhat lighter, too.
used it to make dumplings ( meat inside wrapped with wonton wrap)came out awesome.
then i went on to the real need for the steamer, making chinese pork dumplings [dim sum].
from vegetables to fish and chicken, they all come out perfect!
i used it daily to cook everything including meats, veggies, hard boiled eggs, and even apples for homemade applesauce.
the buttons on the front panel are all extremely flimsy and when you push any of them, all the buttons and the display panel all move.
i really like this product but i am disappointed that the durability of the product has failed me.
I have the plain one and 'cooks illustrated" was right in giving it high marks.
The color and style are nice.

Slow cooker worked great.
having used our new cooker several times i am pleased with the ease of use, the clarity of the instructions, and the overall performance.
This slow cooker provides even cooking.
So we returned it to Cuisinart They sent a new one We are using it today to see if it works.
YOU LOSE(TWICE)I will not purshase cuisinart
Pros: It was easy to return.
Pros: Attractive Design, Convenient Size, Makes an elegant addition to the dinner table
Pros: Great size, easy to clean.
"the most uneven slow cooker at low temperature, and high temperature failed to push the internal temperature of the pot roast much over 190 degrees..."
It was just the size I was searching for with the low, medium, & warming settings.
It works great.
this is a very basic model and it put out great results in an average time frame for cooking!only used it once so far ,but it performed well and quicker than my old one the same size but different make.i would recommend this pot.
If you have the time to keep an eye on it, then you are ok, but that's not the purpose of using a slow-cooker.
I have used many slow cookers, and I will say this one is the best you could ever use.
