You can use either standard or king cases...they fit right over the matress.

However, rather than buying extras, I discovered that a king sized pillowcase fits the mattress perfectly!

I wish I had this with my first; it was extremely painful getting up to the nursery several times in the night (and day while recovering in bed) and so made the decision to co-sleep in our king size bed.
