I read about two recalls from this distributor, with similar concerns. The bed slats can easily pop out. The two products are "Tiffany" and "Josephine" made by the same company who made this Lauren crib. Please be very cautious if you are going to buy this product. from Target.com I bought this crib about a year and a half ago when my daughter broke her last crib (different brand) by jumping up and down in it. She was only 10 months old! from Target.com It took us forever to assemble this crib! The instructions were really poor - so-called "go figure out yourself". The good thing is that you can regulate the height of the base, and it has a dropside, which we also didn't know how to slide at the beginning. It turned out that you have to lift the side a little bit, and then push it inwards with your leg, and it will slide down. from Target.com After all, this isn't a $500 piece of furniture. For the most part, I believe you get what you pay for, but this crib surpassed my expectations, and it also looks great with the Tiddliwinks Jungle bedding. I didn't care for the matching changing table at all (looks like a kitchen serving cart), so we got the Beatrice Combo Tower in natural, and it matches just fine. The drop side works by lifting it slightly then pushing in against the bottom with your shin - it slides right down, and you can do it with one hand. from Target.com it took less that an hour to put together, maybe 40 mins, and there isnt alot of assembly required! took us longer to get that car seat booster in! it is a beautiful natural color that matched perfectly with our other natural furniture. there were no splinters or rough areas, and there was no damage and dents in the wood. from Target.com Overall, we are very happy with this crib. But I did want to draw attention to the misleading description. from Amazon.com for the most part, i believe you get what you pay for, but this crib surpassed my expectations, and it also looks great with the tiddliwinks jungle bedding. from Target.com we purchased the crib from the store on saturday and assembled it the same night. from Target.com the only downfall is that now that my daughter is big enough for a toddler bed, i feel that this crib is too high off of the ground when it's converted. from Target.com i bought this crib about a week before i had my twins so i didn't put it together but my folks did and they said that it wasn't that bad. from Target.com
