i got it for 3 months and the speaker is ok, i like the volume and center control.
i especially liked the control unit and it's ease of use.
music, video games, an movies sound now that it's not coming out of 2 little speakers an having a subwoofer an separate control is nice i can now place speakers were i want them not within arm reach.
not only is there a great sound quality, but there's a remote sound/volume adjustment control with headphone/microphone jacks.it's great because it routes all sound from my computer (and my xbox)
if you have the sb x-fi cards with all the software goodies for sound effects, then you might want to keep the gaming mode off from the speaker controller or visa-versa or it will give you weird
i use it in my office and love the separate volume control.
the sound is fantastic and best of all, the turn-knob volume control - which has a wide range - allows me to lower the sound level on the grandkids' games without the usual fuss of going to the
i love that i can control the volume with the very easy dial, and that i can plug my headset in if i'm going to be playing one of my louder games and he's playing poker on his computer and needs to
the only thing i didnt like is it doesnt have any external volume control...
they are both very good in performance, but what i like about this one is the wired remote which has the volume control, switch, mic and earphone input on it.
they look cool and don't take up a lot of space, and the control circle thing is very very convienant for plugging in headphones and a microphone saving the hassle of plugging it into the back if you
i really like the product design, with a separate control base...very stylish and useful, but of poor quality.
the control on the sub makes it easy to adjust.
the little volume control dial is very useful 'cos you can place it somewhere close to you and its got headphone and mic jacks built it for those of you who feel like plugging in a headphone/mic combo
nice small, desktop control box with volume control, on-off switch, and headphone & speaker jacks.
what's great about it:?remote control +++, no power adapter needed, completely usb-powered, clear sound that fills the entire room what's not so great:?no carrying case minimizing portability "this
what's great about it:?looks good, sounds good, remote control!
unlike other external speakers, there are no volume controls on the speaker itself, the volume strength will be the same as those in your laptop except that it is amplified a little bit because these
install software (necessary to select the type of music player you use - in my case windows media player) so that the neat little remote can be used to control both the speaker sound and balance, but
don't even need the computer unless you want to use the supplied software and remote control.
the remote is great, i can use it to control rhapsody across the room which i couldn't do with my bose.
it doesn't do that very well, so sometimes it requires me to manually switch in control panel, and/or restart.
the included remote makes volume control and track selection a breeze from across the room.
no subwoofer controls other than just the bass/(treble) volume.
as long as they show up in there as z-cinema, most everything works on the remote and such except some buttons and you cant control bass and treble without unplugging the speakers.
just got this speaker system and i didn't know what to expect for the price but for computer speakers these sound very good once i figured out there was a treble controle on the side.
i velcroed it next to her laptop so she has easy control.
one thing noted was the noise from putting a wireless phone hear the controller, i found the same problem.
just keep it turned down to a third or fourth on the sub's volume control.
the subwoofer ouputs a powerful bass tone in which you have the ability to control how much bass you hear.
it's remote control is also good.
very good surround sound and the remote gives you good control of all sound options.
they are very lite and you have to hold the one with the controls to push the on-off switch, not really a problem, the sound quality makes up for that.
2 front speaker, 2 back speaker, 1 center speaker and you have fully remote control.
i have various other cheap but nicely made speakers from logitech and creative and they all output the base to the sub even when playing back a stereo source and in your audio control panel on your
there is a manual volume knob on one speaker and of course it can be controlled via the computer.
sound clarity is good, side volume control makes it easier to control the sound without touching the computer.
also, the 3.5mm port directly below the volume control on the side of the rh speaker is a nifty feature so that a pair of headphones can be plugged in for discrete late-night or private listening.
you can hear everything, the volume control is excellent.
speakers turn off with headphones plugged in, and then volume knob controls headphones.
bass has a good sound, control of treble and bass at your finger tips.
good volume and bass/treble controls, convenient aux input.
the only thing i would do is weigh them down a bit as they are so light that operating the controls on the right side speaker might cause the unit to move a bit.
the sound is rich and full, and i like being able to control the treble and the bass on the speaker.
independent bass and treble control
in response to shazam's complaint that there is no volume control on his speaker system, although the complaint is valid in terms of design and using the "touch" system serves only to increase the
the volume control does work, though i was a bit worried about it, after i read the reviews.
initially i found the volume control on the speaker to be a bit temperamental but with some practice i am able to set the volume without a problem.
touch volume is easy to control.
however, my only complaint is the positioning of the input jacks and bass control.
i like the small size of the desktop speakers and like having the controls all on the right speaker.
after adjustments to my equilizer and speaker controls, i got the bass under control.
volume, treble, bass, & power controls are all on the right satellite (no remote to lose or die - murphy's law) the subwoofer delivers a good clean bass.
other thoughts: controls can be a little tricky to use if you are tone deaf.
long cables , great tremble/bass control.
although it lacks in features such as controls for bass and treble - literally the only control is an orange volume knob which can be pressed to mute the system and pressed once more to enable it -
the ability to connect additional media (e my ipod) through the audio hub makes it much easier to control all ofthe cords.
there is no separate bass and treble control, however the speakers seem to do well without this.
the volume was a bit too low in a open area, forcing me to raise all the volume controls to the max, and even then it was not that loud (however, i was impressed that i didn't hear any static).
i have it configured to control the volume on my laptop.
easy to install & operate.love having control knobs on product in an easy to reach position.makes the desk top much less cluttered.
the bass control should not be knob because it screws up the sound if you adjust it to the left or to the right.
the principal reason i took a shot on these very inexpensive speakers was that they feature a 'tone control': you actually have some power over the output of treble and bass--a distinct rarity these
initially i wished for separate treble/bass controls (it's a single knob) but for my tastes i found it only takes a little tweaking to find a mix that sounds great.
i like the look, sort of old school, with big easy to get at controls knobs.
the volume controls on the front don't really work on the mac (they work on the dell), it's either full or mute - you have to adjust the volume within itunes.
the only downfall is the volume control.
- control integration -- mute, volume up/down, control on the speaker is reflected on the computer (this is "digital" system).
the volume controls are weird to me - if the computer is busy, the volume change is delayed.
the only slight downside is that they are so loud that even at low volume, it's pretty loud even with software controls way down.
wired remote allows control of volume, tone, and source from wherever i want on the desktop, not on the speaker itself.
if i could change one thing it would be a treble control.
my objections would be this: the volume control is big, and ugly.
the sound is full and the volumne control unit is very nice.
cons: poor sound quality compared to other speakers this price range.not good enough pc use.sounds hissy/tinny.no treble control other thoughts: i bought them since i seen some many good
additional thoughtsi would like it better if it had a remote control.
consi do not understand why the remote control is wired.
consthe remote control is not the name for the little external volume control it has.
prostoo-easy setup, sound quality is clear, separate controls for base and volume, light in weight consthe wired remote is a dumb/pointless feautre.
share this review: review?7?for?mms171w 2.1 multimedia speaker system with subwoofer and remote control white/silver overall: 5 [ratingof] 5 quality: 5 [ratingof] 5
the 36w output leaves a little to be desired and it would be nice to have a remote control.
the control base is really nice and looks great next to my computer, and the controls are very easy to use.
the control unit is heavy and feels more expensive than this really is.
7/8 level, the volume on the speaker is set at max level, the bass level output on the sub is set [almost max] at approximate and i use my system's volume control panel to make volume adjustments.
the one small speaker controls your volume and mute.
i'm annoyed by the lack of control in that regard.
easy touch volume control.
the volume for itunes is almost set to 7/8 level, the volume on the speaker is set at max level, the bass level output on the sub is set [almost max] at approximate and i use my system's volume
the volume control is heavy enough that it sits flat on the desk top, and the adjustment knob has a weighted feel reminiscent of the knobs on my 1970s fisher stereo.
i would highly recommend these for a mid price speaker set, great sub-woofer with bass control.
the satellites, sub, volume control, and power supply were all separate.
the sub vibrates the windows in my office when pushed and with a bass control right on the enclosure you can dial the level to your comfort.
the seperate volume control is great!!
the touch sensitive speaker control is great.
