I decided to purchase the X-540 because it was cheap and would certainly be a step up from what I had - and, it would fit nicely in my dorm. Wired-Control could be heavier for stabilizatio Other Thoughts: I had a rattle in one speaker and popped the grill off to melt the tabs holding that 'logitech' logo on to fix the buzz. I use this on my primary gaming/movie rig. from Newegg.com because i use it on a laptop the speakers are attached to a 2.1 soundcard only, but with matrix mode the sound becomes almost surround, there is slight distortion. And yes like other ppl have noted there are some occassional popping noises, but that's from the laptop soundcard, i attached the speakers to a desktop with a 5.1 card and the sound is even nicer, no popping yet. I recommend watching for the occassional logitech 15 or 20 dollar rebate which brings the price down to about $35+$17 shipping. Great deal considering msrp is $110. from Amazon.com I mean 51% and crackle crackle. The sub has zero umff. My logitech 2.1 speakers that are 4 years old push more power and more sound out of a smaller box than this one.
