Computer Speakers for Gaming Buying Guide
If you are a serious gamer, you will probably find that the speakers in
your computer are inadequate for your gaming needs. Many people choose to buy an additional set to enhance their experience and allow them to engage fully in the games that they are playing. Before you purchase your own set, take the following features into account:
Sound Quality
For the best sound
quality, get a full surround speaker
system with at least four speakers and a subwoofer. This creates the
audio illusion that you're truly in the center of the game and
heightens the entire gameplay experience.
Power Output
Power output is
very important when choosing computer speakers for gaming. The
maximum power output is basically the maximum volume you'll
be able to achieve. If you like your gaming audio to be very loud, a
higher power output (100 Watt RMS or more) is important. If volume is not as much of an issue for you, you'll find that
speakers that have a lower power output (as low as 1 Watt RMS) produce the same amount of quality at a lower volume.
Price
The price that you pay
for computer speakers designed for gaming can vary widely. If you don't mind
listening to your gaming audio out of a basic two-speaker set with a
minimum power output, you can get away with spending less than $40.
If, however, sound quality and a higher volume capability are
important to you, plan on spending at least $100 on decent speakers
for your computer.
