i have to admitt i did not want to spend this much for a coffee press but with 10 children around the house a glass press does not make much sense.
i've always had a glass french-press and liked the coffee, but not the glass body- it's small, fragile and the coffee gets cold fast.
though i don't use the pot everyday, if i have any coffee left over i refrigerate it in a sealed glass jar to reheat the rest of the week.
no worry of breakage, coffee stays hot much much better than the glass ones and the clean design looks great on you counter, i constantly have people ask about it.
after having more than my share of broken glass coffee pots, it's great to have this steel one.
i do not know if the glass french press coffee makers make the same quality of coffee, but it is obvious that they would not last as long.
while it had preformed admirably during this time the bonjour developed a crack in the glass vessel and had to be replaced.
the somewhat high price is offset by the fact that this may indeed be the final coffee press you may ever own, as the other models made of glass routinely break over the course of time.
it cleans up well in the dishwasher and is so much better than glass presses because it is far sturdier (2 layers of steel rather than scratchable glass and the mesh doesn't rust or discolor).
it's sturdy (no glass to break!), and cleans nicely in the dishwasher.
a little on the expensive side, but considering i broke 3 glass presses before purchasing this one, in the long run i'm sure it will save me money.
works just like a similarly sized glass coffee maker but is more durable and holds heat better.
it keeps the coffee hotter longer than the glass french presses.
i bought this model instead of the glass one, because i had trouble with the melitta cone drip keeping coffee warm while it processed.
i've managed to break 5-6 glass french press coffee makers so i decided to buy the bodom stainless press.
we needed to replace our older, regular glass carafe drip coffee maker (a krupps) after it seemed to be making the coffee weaker and weaker (even after cleaning).
the carafe may be a little large for us (we have three coffee drinkers but usually make several 4-cup pots a day) but i like how it has no glass yet keeps the coffee hot.
my 2 1/2 year old son broke the glass in the thermal carafe so unbreakable was a priority, especially since he insists on helping me make the coffee every morning.
in summary, the design quirks are offset by good, hot coffee and a sturdy fully stainless steel carafe -- my old carafe's glass innards exploded all over the floor one day.
it has a stylish, brushed stainless carafe that stays cool to the touch and has no breakable glass liner like some carafes have.
there's no glass carafe to break; the coffee is stored inside where it comes in less contact with surrounding air.
we wanted to get away from the glass pot makers as you either let the brewed coffee burn in the pot, let it get cold or transfer it to a carafe.
i love the look of the "fuel guage" on front showing how much coffee is left in the resivor, and, of course, the press and serve lever....it's so nice not to have to worry about those glass carafe's!!
it makes excellent coffee & not having a glass carafe is a big plus to me.
my kitchen and counter are so much cleaner now that i'm not transferring coffee from glass carafe to thermal carafe or pouring cups.
the only problem i have with this product is you cant see how much coffee is left in the pot like you can with a glass carafe.
this was the best value for this product - hands down.if i had to find any fault with this is that the carafe is not glass line which keeps the coffee hotter longer but is more durable in the long run
nonetheless, it's the best coffee maker i've ever owned and no more of those broken glass pots!
makes excellent coffee that stays hot and fresh in the stainless steel carafe for several hours without burning as can happen with standard glass carafe sitting on heater element.
"this coffee maker is great, looks sharp, made well, easy to maintain, the stainless steel pot keeps coffee hot for hours longer than glass pots do.
had just broken the glass cafe on my old coffee maker, thought this one with no glass seemed like a great idea.filling it takes some getting used to, wish the reservoir opening was a bit larger.
i have had this style of coffee pot for 4 years now, and i love having the tank instead of the glass carafe.
i love not having to deal with a glass pot, because i can't seem to wash one without smacking it into the side of the sink.
i can't tell you how many cup's of coffee i have spilled from using those glass pots...
love not having a glass caraf and it's unbelievable how long it stays steaming hot without losing the just- brewed taste.
it protects the glass press, makes it easy to handle, and helps keep the coffee warm until my next cup.
i really like it because the glass portion of the pot is removable so i don't have to worry about replacing the entire pot if i break it again, i can just get new glass.
this product works well, is easy to clean and keeps the hot coffee hot longer because of an outer plastic container which also protects the glass interior from breakage.
one comment--it is very important to prewarm the flask before brewing the coffee; adding boiling or near-boiling water to a cold flask, even tempered glass, can cause it to shatter.
of all the models, i chose this one for it's attractive, whimsical design, and protection over the glass beaker.
no glass carafe.
i really liked the fact that it had no glass carafe to break while on the road so this made it my first choice.
the days of glass carafe coffee makers are over.
the taller cup capacity is great, no more tipping the glass to fill it.
easy to program, keeps coffee hot without burning, and no glass pot to wash or break.
i just fill a small glass with my desired amount milk and place the dispenser hose in it.
i do agree that an investment in glass-insulated mugs is very worthwhile to go along with this unit.
you need a thermal glass espresso cup (sold at various places online).
warm up the glass with the hot water option before fixes the problem.
i have always loved french press coffee, but it hard to carry a thin glass french press around with you.
i got him this one so that he could take it with him, especally on camping trips and to the office with out the worry of glass.
i thought a french press would be a great idea, but all of them seemed to be made of glass and i didn't want to leave my press laying around where i work (we share space with other companies so
very recommended product, it's all durable plastics, rubber, and real glass, seems like a very quality little coffee maker.
i like the fact that the base presses on to the glass pot so it stays put unless i want to take it off for washing.
it brews great very hot strong coffee and i like that the stainless is more durable than glass.
and you don't have to worry about the pot breaking cause it's not glass.
note that the coffee filter sits on the top of the glass pot.
after all, we're trying to fill mugs here, not shot glasses!
the reason we bought this press was because my boyfriend is strong like the hulk, and broke a glass french press- yes with his bare hands- when he was trying to clean it.
other reviews for other bodum presses complain about how easily the glass breaks.
the espresso was quite bitter, but next time i am going to add some of the warm milk to the glass pot to help preserve the crema and hopefully keep it from getting as bitter.
the only complaint that i have is i wish there was a warm plate underneath the glass carafe to keep liquid warm until everyone wakes up and makes their own beverage.
the glass carafe is very thin; be careful.
i poured it into a glass and tasted it before i added the ice.
fyi: we dropped the glass carafe last week, and ordered a replacement online from the manufacturer quite painlessly!
although you tamp the expresso grounds into a small stainless steel filter cup with this machine, it then fits into an aluminum holding cup with the little funel at the bottom (over the glass pitcher
occasionally this handle/retainer comes off the filter basket and requires me to put on my reading glasses to replace it.
i appreciate that the glass carafe appears to be thicker than what you would normally see on a consumer appliance like this.
the carafe is glass and the carafe lid is plastic.
and it's great for iced coffee- brew double strength & pour over a glass filled w/ice- perfect dilution & the coffee stays hot so you are not left later with cold double strength coffee or waiting
i would give this coffee maker a 5 were it not for the glass lined carafe.
since it makes the coffee and deposits into the thermal carafe it is impotant to note that there is no burner as in glass pot coffee makers.
weight - yes the carafe is heavier than most (but it is a good one with glass, not just cheap plastic), but it is not heavy
thermal carafe is glass lined with a large opening so it's really easy to clean---much easier than most stainless steel carafes.
a hot fresh cup of coffee as soon as it is made and then the same cup 30 minutes later; you just can't do that with a regular glass carafe; coffee made is very smooth, hot and strong; no bitterness;
i also love that i don't have to worry about breaking the carafe every time i wash it (can't even count the number of glass pots i've broken).
3) steam comes out of the top and fogs up your cabinets (can be an issue if you have glass cabinet doors).
the sight-glass water level indicator is difficult read because the surface behind it is black, and there's no floating indicator like in the $20 coffee makers.
capresso coffee maker - excellent hot pot of coffee; very easy to use; the filter included is great; no drip, no spills; i love that i can get a hot fresh cup of coffee as soon as it is made and then
