the grinding process is loud,kinda like a second alarm, and the clean up is slightly more than with a normal coffee maker but it's worth it for coffee this good.

during the grind process this coffee maker emits a sound not unlike an annoying smoke alarm...a loud, shrill hum for nearly a minute.

the automatic brew starts when our alarm goes off (i always hit snooze once so the coffee is finishing up as i'm wobbling toward the kitchen).

however, the krups is a bit messier and quieter (which makes for problems when the cuisenart also acted as the alarm clock).
