i have to admitt i did not want to spend this much for a coffee press but with 10 children around the house a glass press does not make much sense.

i have the smaller press at home, and cleanup is much easier than the glass-walled french-presses.

we liked this press after having coffee at a friend's house....but, i find it takes much experimenting to adjust the strength of the coffee flavor.

this larger model is really not that large and would probably work for 2 people who each enjoy more than one cup of coffee in the morning.

Roughing it in nature has its perks, so long as you can get your own "perk" when you wake up to start your day. Most coffee lovers need a morning cup of coffee, whether they're at work or in the wild. Luckily, there are many coffee makers suitable for camping, each with their advantages.
Percolator
Percolators are the classic camping companion. Fill the bottom tank with water, put the grinds in, and set it on the fire, then just watch the coffee splash up into the bubble at the top. Percolators provide great rustic flavor and are easy to use, though you may get a few grinds in the cup.
French Press
All you need is hot water! A french press yields a great, rich, full-bodied cup of coffee just like at home. Your morning coffee is done in minutes and clean up is just as fast and hassle-free. Most french press units are glass, which can be a problem for a serious camper that does lots of hiking and backpacking.
Capacity
If you're brewing for family or friends each morning, make sure you go with a coffee maker that has 8 or more cups in capacity, otherwise you'll be spending hours making pot after pot. French presses tend to yield only one or two cups, so if you are camping with a group, a percolator may be your best bet.
