In a local store, I compared various products by opening the covers and sniffing. Only the Hamilton Beach had an odor one that made me feel somewhat nauseous. The others were neutral. from Amazon.com Although I was satisfied with the strength of the coffee that I achieved, I was concerned that perhaps I was using more coffee each pot than if I were using a different machine. Often, people insist that cone filter designs or more efficient brewing solves the problem. I tried a Cuisinart DCC-1200 (highly rated, more expensive, cone filter) recently with the exact same proportion/grind (~7 "cups", 10TBSP medium-fine ground coffee) of coffee to water and found its coffee to be weaker and less flavorful than the coffee made in this Hamilton Beach wonder. This is Hamilton Beach's way of preventing you from drinking the horrible, toxic-tasting coffee. After using this Hamilton Beach now for a few days, I am thrilled! Nothing leaks so far, it's quiet, the coffee is hot and delicious, one basket to remove and empty, it's just great. from Amazon.com I agree, this coffee is more enjoyable because it so hot when you pour it up. It is hot when it makes and stays hot. In my opinion, unless you are extremely pleased with the coffee maker you have, you won't be disappointed with the Hamilton Beach 43254. from Amazon.com
