The noise is not as bad as people say. It's louder than a drip maker, but not much louder than any pump coffee maker. I use a high-end Keurig at work and it does not make as good a cup of coffee as the SS-1. The sound level is about the same. from Amazon.com This is the best single cup coffee maker around. It worked well at first but after 5 months it started refusing to brew unless I pulled out and reseated the brew cup, often several times. At first Cuisinart Customer Service told me to repeat the cleaning process, which I had already done regularly per the directions. When that failed to change anything I called and they sent me a replacement at no charge except that I had to pay shipping costs to return my first unit. from Amazon.com You are supposed to push two buttons simultaneously to "prime the system". They flashed, but pushing them did nothing. I called the Cuisinart help line. I've read a lot of reviews and have had coffee out of both the Cup-O-Matic and the Keurig machines and it came down to this machine and the Keurig B70. The deciding factor was the Cup-O-Matic will do a much better job when it comes to using ground coffee. from Amazon.com
