This is a fantastic value considering I paid $50; I used my Discover Card CashBack Award. It makes excellent HOT coffee. I have never experienced HOT, HOT coffee at home until I tried the KitchenAid Pro. Superb, solid quality. from Cooking.com I felt it was worth it for a decent cup of coffee. The same day we were going to purchase the Technivorm we received an email from cooking.com. about the KitchenAid Pro Line. In all of my extensive research I had never heard of it. from Cooking.com After having many different coffee makers over the years I was hoping that I had finally found a machine that would keep coffee hot and brew to the correct strength. Man, was I disappointed. Kitchenaid got the hot part right. Too right. from Cooking.com Best coffee maker we have ever had. We have always had a Bunn coffee maker because my husband liked the fact that it made coffee so quickly(which it did). But there were some downsides to the Bunn, so when it came time to replace it I read many reviews and decided to go with this KitchenAid. I can't say enough good things about it. from Cooking.com Because it is heavy, you want to fill it without moving it. It fills from the front, on top, very conveniently, but needs the first 5-6 inches of the top to be accessible, effectively adding that much depth to its footprint if using under cabinets. Dear KitchenAid: eliminate the plastic basket inside the stainless basket. Either shape the stainless to serve the same function or use a stainless/wire inner basket. from Cooking.com The 12-c. Coffee Maker by KitchenAid is well constructed but does not have a coffee strength control causing the finished product to be very weak. from Cooking.com I already owned the Burr Grinder from the KitchenAid Pro line and I can't live without it. When I was looking for a new coffee maker I knew it would be from the KitchenAid Pro line. from Cooking.com The second issue is the plastic handle on the stainless steel brew basket. If you hold it by the handle when drying it, over time the handle loosens and then breaks off. Kitchenaid replaced it twice and I now know not to hold it by the handle if any force is being put on the handle such as when drying it. I also hand wash it just to be safe. from Amazon.com I cant tell you how many times I've had to clean my spots of coffee up because of this. There really is no way around this except taking it with the pot, which is difficult because of the way the basket slides out. Maybe in the future Kitchenaid will offer a replacement? That seems like such easy fixes to make this the best coffee maker on the market as it stands its still awefully good, and I've tasted no better assuming you drink coffee fast! from Amazon.com I filed around the edges of the hinged lip and that solved that problem . so the thing still needs some design work but i plan on keeping it for its good features. oh, its true..the beautious kitchenaid matching grinder works great but it does leave grounds on the base and counter when you take the flask out. those ka designers are definately not adverse to a little cleanup with their products. from Amazon.com
