i use my regular size permanent filter from my old pot and works fine, no overflow or anything, kitchenaid does have a permanent filter for this $39.95 at kitchenaid.com and it is as large as coffee

i scoped out this and other boards and found that, although the kitchenaid seemed to give the most bang for the buck, it was still $200 - a wee bit too much just for a coffee maker for this boy.
