it has several measures to grind coffee so there is a setting for all tastes and needs.
it's a work horse and will get the job done every day, all day, the same way.
i then found the notice in the box that stated that this was not unusual, as all grinders are tested with actual coffee beans.

i'm getting all the flavor from the premium coffee i'm using with only a small extra step over pre-ground; somthing i appreciate in the morning when i want coffee, not rocket science.
by the time the water is boiled, a gentle tap of the collection unit spills all of the ground coffee into the press pot.
my criteria was simple: i wanted a grinder that would hold 4-5 day's worth of whole beans, grind fine enough for my coffee maker, and not make a mess with grinds ending up all over the kitchen.
all in all, i am very pleased with this product, and for the price, you can't beat it!
it allows you to measure just the amount of beans you need from 4 to 12 cups, and then you set the grinder to the amount and the grind - fine, medium, or coarse - depending on how strong you like it.
***update 7/18/07*** this grinder still works fine and no major complaints but it has one flaw that the supports inside the grinding cup have all been cut by the blade so they no longer twist.

well all i have to say is that this unit works just like promised.
after grinding all you have to do is tap on top a little, remove the reservoir and dump into the filter basket.

not only do you have to turn this brute upside-down, but you also have to turn it every which way so that all the coffee inside the machine works its way out.but these are minor quibbles.
