I bought this grinder before the Solis.
I thought this coffee grinder was great.
I've been using this for a couple of years, so I'd have to say it is durable.

although this product isn't as quiet as some reviews had shown, it is quieter than my old blade grinder.
only two issues for me: a little noisy and it vibrates just enough to loosen the ground coffee container while grinding.
it's relatively quiet, and the little container for the ground coffee is easy and convenient.
i was going to spend $200.00 for a kitchen aid but the things that made it better were not worth the extra money (glass coffee holder & quieter).
grinders are advertised as providing an even grind, and while the amount of sediment in our espresso has been dramatically reduced, the sediment in our french press and drip brewers seem unaffected.
it works great on coffee and dry spices.

bought this originally to grind spice after watching america's test kitchen's recommendation- instead used it on a bag of coffee beans- and since it did such a fabulous job on that (fast and
a little noisy. the bottom line: the bottom line hits 7-11 for coffee.
just compare this one with braun, try to turn it on without the coffee beans and you would notice braun is louder than toastmaker, this is quiet and grinds well.
i have only used it to grind spices and nuts in small quantities, as i don't drink fresh coffee, but i'm sure it would work well for that.

though i've not owned another grinder similar to this, i was impressed the first time i turned the rocky on with how quietly it operated.
i has a starbuck's barista before for about 10 years and it died.
two evenings and two pounds worth of espresso sludge later, i realized that a total of 12 settings between espresso and french press wasn't going to cut it for miss silvia.
the bottom line: it is a beautiful appliance and well worth the money if one has an upper-end espresso machine.
using for my esspresso and most people indicated numbers from 10-20, but i eventually found that i needed my machine set to about 4 in order to produce anything that resembled a good espresso grind.
