after a lot of research, the midland wr-300 radio was the best product available within our price range - and even better than many expensive options.
it has the option of just having the radio come on instead of the alarm, and also shows a red warning light when there is an alert.
bottom line: if you want a product that gives you flexible options with an ability to select your level of "comfort," then this appears to be the best option i could find.
i previously bought the radio without the am/fm option, but decided to return it and i bought the wr300.
while its handy luminous panel may be optionally lit at all times, and is a move in the right direction for those who desire to see the face at all times, it cannot be dimmed, illuminating the entire
and when you turn bac on it tunes itsef to last lisened station + gives option on back light timeout great product.
* if it has a favourites option for radio stations i haven't found it & i wish it had one.
right outside the box and i did not even use the manual as i read some of the great reviews online on how the remote controls all the features and allows you to navigate through all the options.
there's no adjustment setting to tone it down, only options to leave display always on for selected intervals or always off.
went back to the aluratek and selected the media player option on the remote, waited for it to connect and display a list, did search by artist and played some songs.
we did not by this machine to use as an alarm clock, only as a sound machine, so covering the numbers was a viable option for us which worked beautifully.
you can go to sleep with the 'sunset' option and listen to radio or nature sounds.
overall, this clock works well enough, is several times cheaper than similar options, and has a lot of extra options.
then plug your lamp into) is really nice for turning off your lamp at night from the clock (laziness rules!) note that you can't use the dimming/gradual lamp brightening option with a cfl bulb.
note that you only have two options for how long the light gets brigther, 15 or 30 minutes before your alarm set time.
there are options for the type of alarms(music, radio, buzz) also.
however, the melody alarm option is more than sufficient.
it's reception is better than my old radio, the cd is a nice added feature and it's 3 alarm options has proven a great benefit.
it's nice also to have to option of waking up to the radio or the alarm.
the bonuses that add something extra is the ability to set two alarms each for both weekdays and weekends and each has their own optional melody instead of radio or buzzer.
it allows the setting for several different alarm options (no more forgetting to turn off the alarm on friday night and have it accidently go off saturday morning!) and the radio stations come in
this radio does that, and the fact that it's digital, has many alarm features and options, and also looks very good prompted my decision to get it.
it is easy to set and turn off and the optional sounds are a great wake-up rather than a noisy buzzer.
it's stylish, accurate, doesn't take much space, and the nature sounds option for alarm is great for those who are easily startled by a sudden loud alarm.
i love the option of automatically having the alarm clock go on mon-fri and off on the weekends.
it has a repeat option, which i wanted, but my only complaint is that it makes a whirring noise as it goes from the last track to track one.
the volume is great, the screen color options are fun, and the price is right on.
i have tried all of the color options and none of them are very dim.
except the cd option...
it does show in red when you are setting the alarms, but red isn't an option for the standard display.
i like the options of having an alarm choice of either buzzer, radio or both at the same time.
however, the buzzer is extremely loud first thing in the morning (most clocks start low in sound and graduate in loudness), and the radio option blares if that is selected.
this unit is a basic alarm clock with all of the features i need, but it would be nice if it included more options.
it is also a simple clock with few buttons to hit and no wasted options.
i imagine if you are going to spend the combined price on this product, you might have looked at other options as well?
it may be expensive, but the sound and options are just tremendous, i went from very worried to very satisfied immediately when i first turned it on christmas day.
i think it's better than the tivoli and boston acoustic options which are similar in price but offer less feaures.
but i still use its provided fm antenna wire (optional) to enhance its fm reception, otherwise some weak fm station will have hissing sound.
another plus is that you can set the backlight to various options including off.
no option for a second speaker for stereo speaker output.
my previous one had dual but the only option was for all weekdays or weekdays and weekends.
i've had this option on many other clocks costing much less and it's an awesome feature to have.
alarm setting and options: great
in addition to the dimmer, it also has the option to turn the light and off.
unfortunately, no option appears to be perfect, but this radio does a very good job with all the basics.
the atomic antenna attaches to the clock, with the option of removing it and hanging it on the wall nearby in case the signal calls for that.
it has so many options for the wake up that i've kept a one-page printout handy until i've memorized which buttons to push in which order.
tuning and antenna options required for dx'ing.
as the options available during set up require multiple step, it's important to follow the manual carefully.
decent stereo sound for a clock radio and has the option to plug in another audio component - includes the cord as well.
i just use the alarm, but it is nice to know how many options i have.
the alarm is just loud enough to actually get us to our feet, and i love that the snooze option has different time settings - 10, 20, up to 60 minutes for snoozing.
it has lots of options for alarm selection.
i really like the dual alarms and having the alarm options of buzzer, radio, or cd.
i was really worried that this would not wake me up so i also chose to use the flash at wake up option.
optional flash and beep for the hard sleeper.
pros: optional controller for other light sources sunrise simulator=happiness cons: light is not as bright as some would like the bottom line: buy this alarm clock.
the alarm has a buzzer or radio option.
the dual alarm option is a must-have if you share sleep quarters w/ someone on a different work schedule.
the good points are battery back up and the dimmer option.
the dual alarm is very useful and incredibly easy to set, as is the option to change the snooze time.
it looks neat, has plenty of options and the duel alarm function is great.
good sound quality with many nice options/features.
i also like there are 10, 20 and 30 minute snooze options.
i haven't tried the mp3 connection yet but that offers me another option.
more than once i found myself wishing that apple made an alarm clock, just because none of the basic options out there (in the $10 to $50 range) seem to take any notice or interest in the human
as long as the unit is loaded with buttons and knobs anyway, perhaps one little tiny switch for that option wouldn't be awfully unwelcome.
the proton still worked but the led went out and repairing was not an option because of the cost.
you can wake to music or the buzz option.i really like that you can hook you mp3 or portable cd player to this cool clock and listen to ( your) tunes through the clock.
personally, i enjoy the day light savings, and date option (it tells you the date and that it's friday on the screen) i enjoy the color changing options, as well as the screen dimmer, and the fact
the changing colors on the screen and options to plug in a cd/m3 player was a nice plus.
3 the mp3 player optional input is excellent.
i like the options and the sound is just great...
i would prefer knobs (hence my rating of 4 stars.)i would also like to see a scan option for the selection of stations.
-this is actually sold through crutchfield, so free shipping is not an option.
i also like the option of hanging it on the wall although mine will likely be sitting on a table or dresser instead.
need to buy connector wire to plug ipod into aux input, and can't charge ipod using this device, but speaker is fine and nice to have option of switching from ipod tunes to excellent radio tuner.
it's one of the only machines that have this option.
it also has a little tray attached to the side and the option to hook up your mp3 player or some small portable music source, sweet!
- sounds wonderful w/ optional mega bass
good sound quality and options.
the installation is easy with the supplied drilling template and has options for cabinets with different size face plates.
the template worked fine - though i noticed others had complained about the layout ...) all in all, i'd recommend this unit for the convenience of having all three audio options at your fingertips.
it is a little diffucult to set and i would like the option of using the radio for both alarms.
this one fit the bill and has a great options, including weekday only alarms, so i don't have to turn my alarm off on the weekend manually.
there are many different options for what you will wake up to (radio, nature sounds, or buzzer)
for these options, i give it five stars.
like i said, not perfect but nice options at a great price.
