read on other reviews that backlight is too bright, button press tone too loud, and manual "poorly translated from chinese".
the only negative of note is the bright blue backlight...it is too bright to leave on at night, if used as a bedside clock radio.
the problem: i would like to use it as a alarm clock next to the bed, but the backlighting is so bright that you can't leave it on at night and sleep.
it's difficult to see from the side of the bed, even when the backlight is turned on.
i love the bluelight backlight on the display and the beeps that some people say are annoying can be, but for the most part you get used to it and it's not that big a deal.
like the other reviewer the backlight issue bugged me a little bit but found that it is not that big of a worry.
* backlight can be turned completely off so you're not obsessing about the time,
so all in all * the sound quality = awesome, * waking up to my favorites songs is a treat and a great way to start they day, * display, clear and includes the date, * backlight can be turned
the only thing that would make it better would be a backlight for the clock display.
the only negative, as another reviewer mentioned, is that the backlight "low" setting is still a little bright for a dark room for my taste, but that doesn't bother me much since i keep it on the
the one negative is the backlight only has two setting high and low.
the three backlight levels are terrific.
this radio does not have a backlight, and uses 3 aa cells for power (i keep the extra cell from a 4-pack in the refrigerator for the next change...so this is not a big problem).
some have complained of the blue backlight, i do not find it too bright at all.
i agree with other reviewers - the backlight (2 brightness choices) is too bright for me, but i leave the light off and just press "dimmer" when i need to check the time.
you can only read the clock during the day if you activate the backlighting on it or get up really close, but to me that's not a problem.
my insomnia tendencies are also why i appreciate the fact that you can't see the clock display at all if you haven't hit the button on top to activate the backlight - no glancing over in the middle
you cannot read the clock face in the dark without first hitting the backlight button.
1.) you can't disable the bright blue backlighting or even dim it if you press the snooze bar for a status in the middle of the night (why isn't this also red?!)
i like the blue backlight of the screen and also the nice red colored digital projection.
"extermely bright backlightif you turn off the backlight, you can't see the clock"--------------------------------------------but, as i could read, aluratek tries to find a way to solve this problem.
and the backlighted time displays only when the radio is actually on; though i expect that glitch to be fixed in a software update.
there is no dim backlight setting.
like everyone else said the backlight should have a dimmer option.
the manufacturer's website has answers for two questions regarding this product: you can't dim the backlight and if you can't connect to your wireless network, you have to download their new firmware.
in actuality, it looks much like the pictures; the blue is a backlight that is on when the interior light is set to high.
there are three light settings: really bright, reasonably bright, and backlight only, controlled via the "snooze" bar.
space-saving attractive unit, but the only usable setting for the backlight is off!
the backlight for the clock has three dimmer settings and there is a daylight savings time button.
also, another reviewer criticized the backlight, said it's not bright enough.
the 3 brightness levels do not help, they just increase the backlight which does nothing for the actual information on the display.
pros: plenty of presets, weatherband, nice display with 3 backlight levels.
but still i can only clearly see the clock at night if the backlight is turned pretty bright, which i prefer it not to be.
the backlight switches from blue to high-beam orange when the alarm goes off.
has no function in the middle of the night, and is not readable with the backlight turned low.
but the real problems are the humane waking system (hws), volume controls, snooze timer & backlight.
- convenient button on front that switches the backlight to full power.
the backlight may be a little bright for some folks, but it can be turned off.
the feature that i like most is the ability to turn of the backlight display.
the backlight is just from
backlight - the display backlight can be turned off if the light bothers you.
the backlight is off immediately and the display starts to flash after 20 seconds.
large clock display with adjustable brightness backlight that's easy to see without glasses, even for a very near-sighted guy like me.
it looks nice, especially the screen backlight.
* the backlight is dim enough for me on the lowest setting, unlike my previous one
but that darn backlight...
the dial is also hard to read, and the lcd backlight is a little too bright for me.
