i live in an underground house and was wondering if i would be able to get reception in the bedroom, which is where i would want to keep a weather radio for myself.
a must have for any household.
i would recommend every household that isn't directly underneath a civil alert siren have this radio or one just like it.
(helpful if you're up in the corner of a county and might want to know when the county above you is getting clobbered just before it hops over the county line 2 miles away from your house, etc.).
this morning the radio sounded off about 1:30am with a very loud alarm announcing a 'severe thunderstorm watch' in four counties located about 60 miles from my house.
the kitchen is the main room for all the gatherings in my house and the radio and cd player is a great help, especially for my son's 6th birthday party this past weekend.
the radio is okay, although reception in my house is not great anyway.
after talking to their representative on the phone, he promised the unit will arrive at my house by the weekend.
we have a houseful of sony products, and they are ordnarily very sturdy; i have no idea what went wrong here.
my husband had this installed before we even were fully moved into our new house.
this alarm clock is much better than what i have expected i am very impressed with the settings which makes the old alarm clocks seem like the computers that taken up the whole house.
i had this clock set up and programmed within 5 minutes of opening the box, and when i went around the house to set all my other clocks forward an hour when daylight savings happened, i was thrilled
this clock is just perfect in our beach house.
i liked it so much that we now have three of them throughout the house.
i have several sony radios and cd players in the house and they are the only brand i have not had a problem in getting great reception on fm and am, and they have such incredible sound......
on the other hand, it's made it extremely easy to bring it along as i move from room to room in the house (i'm a talk radio junkie).
this is a great little clutch radio, grab it and go for work around the house etc.
i'd buy it again for every bedroom in the house.
i needed a small radio, with a "digital" tuner that i could take with me around the house from room to room, as i clean, etc that will actualy tune right to the exact station that i want, and not one
i carry the radio around the house w/ me, so low battery drain is very important.
it easily joins your in-house wifi network to allow you access to a tremendous selection of internet and world radio stations.
this product is now my constant companion when i am in the kitchen working or in the living room relaxing or just anytime i need some music in the house.
the wireless reception is good, my router is at the other end of the house.
i might even buy another one for another room in my house!
* you do have to 'go around the houses' to undertake simple operations.
the ipod clock-radio market is a weird one: there's an almost frightening array of brands and models, from craptastic-cheap to i'd-mortgage-my-house-for-one-if-my-house-was-still-worth-anything
now, i'm using the duo on the top floor of a 2-story house where my myriad other radios need no help in getting fm stereo...i dont even need to extend the telescoping antenna on my sangean pr-d5 to
i also wanted another ipod dock for the house, though not necessarily for waking up.
we needed to replace a bose ipod dock, and decided to try one of these for a beach house sound system.
i am picking my favorite am radio station that normally does not "tune in" very well where i live with other radios that i have around the house.
i always use it when i am cooking or cleaning house.
i can crank this unit way up and hear it in all the rooms of my house, and it does not sound bad or like the speakers are going to break.
our house is in a wooded area and my xm radio can be a challenge sometimes, so i was concerned about clear reception.
not only does it get good reception in our kitchen which is in the middle of our house, but it also has a jack for the kids to listen to their ipods!!!
i needed something that would combine the radio and cd element together and i needed it for the center of the house so we could enjoy it in several rooms.
we are receiving as many stations on this radio as on any other radio in the house.
it has been a good addition to our house and i would recommend it if you are looking for a radio/cd player in your kitchen.
sony has a great reputaion in my house, would highly recomend this item.
i highly recommend this for any household since the kitchen is where the family gathers and listening to intellectually stimulating talk and music is essential for everyone.
put a set of nimh batteries in there, and a charge lasts for weeks and weeks with use in my house for a half hour a day at least...charge from within the radio, no need to change batteries.
i bought it to use around the house, not for travel.
the former i used to rebroadcast xm (via a sangean fm transmitter [from ccrane dot com]) throughout my house, and the latter i used to distribute a water aerobics instructor's voice around a large
probably use it mainly for around the house anyway.
i also really appreciate that if i leave the house before the alarm has gone off it will eventually turn itself off and stop annoying the other members of the household.
eventually all clocks in my house (and on my person) will be auto synch (either via atomic clock or cell phone carrier).
every young member of my family has been given one of these clocks, and i have one in every room of my house.
not sure how the atomic adjustment works yet, my house might not be in a prime location to receive the satellite.
i have atomic clocks in my house as well as my watch and knowing the time is exactly right is a great plus to me.
we use these primarily to listen to xm radio, retransmitted through fm throughout the house.
first, it has has rfi interference when listening on the am band when florescent lights are on somewhere in the house.
we have a difficult time with reception at our house due to signal towers on another foothill near us and for some products, like cell phones, and some television cable companies, they do not always
i tried several different antennas and different locations in my house with the same result.
but, this is a solid product, with a slick design for a unique place in the house.
i'm not surprised if you live at the edge of a broadcast area that reception might be poor because (other than placement in your house - which is limited), you are not going to use the cord draped
pros: good sound, decent reception (at my house), attractive, high quality appearance
then started going to different parts of the house and outside.
yes, having a more standard 9v battery would be nice - easier to find an extra in the house.
great way not to bother other people in the house.
i'm out the cost of a battery and the cost of the clock as i am unable to get out of the house to return.
