this is almost comical.sony under-cabinet kitchen cd/clock radio (silver)
i needed a small am-fm cd player for use on a kitchen shelf.
reception is extremely poor.
the analog tuner is hard to use - you don't want to change stations much.
the control buttons are in a good location and easy to use in the dark, once you know where everything is.
i have it set up in my kitchen.
it even fits in nicely in the kitchen!
also where you dock your ipod, there is no cover for your docking station when not in use, thus dust and if in the kitchen liquids can get into the place where you dock your ipod.
say good bye to listening to the weather and traffic reports in the morning while in bed because you have to race to turn this thing off before the volume reaches full blast!
the backlight is ultra bright even after being dimmed.
alarm works great except the one time i accidentally changed setting to radio, for which i do not get any reception in rural area.
however, i can only use the rain setting because there is a pretty loud static sound that overrides the nature sound.
the unit works ok but the outdoor temperature is 5 degrees off and the unit regularly loses the signal to the remote sensor.
third, although it allegedly located the atomic clock signal, the time was 40 minutes behind.
the backlight for the clock is not a nice solid one like you see on the box.
+ backlight can be dimmed very much; it doesn't light up the room on the lowest setting
i like a display that can be dimmed to a low backlight.
a bonus for parents is that when on full brightness the backlight is bright enough to use as a night light for your child.
i have no problems with the display brightness or readability, and i really like the styling of the unit.
2) illumination
I asked for this clock for christmas because I wanted a clock with an adjustable snooze time.
After the first power outage, I thought the clock was running fast coming back to AC.
The radio is very Mickey Mouse--it has a tiny round dial to turn to tune in stations, similar to the tiny dials on transistor radios we had in the "old days." But I was able to tune a local station in.
The radio works well.
That radio dial can not bring in any significant stations.
obviously, after reading about the broken volume and brightness knobs on some of these radios, i felt that i was taking my life in my hands to order one...but, mine works just great and i love it.
line option for mp3 player and variable brightness for clock.
the clock is small, easy to use, and the display doesn't light up the room.
easy to use and to set alarms.
when i'm working in the bedroom i'll be able to listen to my mp3 player.
After 100 years of digital alarm clocks being available in the market, setting an alarm should not be an issue.
Although I like the size of the clock, it is quite complicated when trying to program the clock.
However, about the 3rd day I used it, the alarm off button stuck in and won't come out.
I bought this clock to hear nice soothing background sounds while I sleep, which I believe is the purpose of the clock.
Last September I decided that, after almost 30 years with my old Zenith digital alarm clock, it was time for me to get a new clock.
it can be turned up really loud and still have a clarity that is hard to get with a small speaker system.
the buttons on the unit are somewhat small and are not illuminated.
easy to use and i love the infrared snooze button and waking up to my music on the ipod.
first of all, it has a function that allows you to control the brightness of the clock display, but even in the dimmest setting, it's still pretty bright.
however i am a little dissapointed with the radio signal it is a little fuzzy.
The Bottom Line: if you want to start your morning with good mood buy this alarm Pilips AJL308 Clock Radio
Pros: can see pictures, videos, listen to music, and have an alarm clock in one.
It is so loud and shrill that I find myself angrily jolted out of sleep each morning with an unyielding desire to throw the clock across the room.
my daughter loves it we really did not get it for the alarm because she is only four but when she starts school we will use it it a great gift and looks great in her bedroom.
I needed an alarm clock that would wake up my four year old and make her smile.

the dora talking alarm clock is a fantastic addition to any kids room.
I'd recommend any Dora fan to get this clock to brighten up their rooms.
the clock works and projects as designed but I question why the projection and the clock are two entirely separate clocks.
Pros: Nice Sound and Reception (for an alarm clock)Nice Projection at night (when else would you need it?) - other product comments said display was not good during the day, but that would require far more energyBetter than a Timex Alarm with MP3 i...
This alarm clock allows my daughter to listen to music on the radio or CD player.
I bought this particular alarm clock w/ CD/radio at a Bed Bath and Beyond.
When I first plug in the Clock and set the time it worked fined.

Overall: Ok for a $10.00 clock radio but just ok.
We bought it because it can take dual voltage according to the description.
I bought this clock for the exercise room for the big bright numerals.
I have had this clock for about a month now and I love it.
But exactly after 7 weeks of purchase, the clock failed to work.
Radio leaves a little to be desired, but as an alarm clock, or a clock for those with poor vision, I think this is a good value.
The light on this clock is way too bright.
I bought two of these [Blue/Black/Silver version] because I wanted my daughters (ages 10 & 11) to be able to listen to radio without having to be "plugged-in" with headphones all the time.
