Had a GE model in the kitchen for years - it was much thinner and had a very convenient light but the quality was lacking. First the cd player stopped working, the buttons wore 'thin' and by the end only the radio and light remained.
I am very pleased with this purchase and have already suggested it to friends who are in the market. I bought it here after hearing it (and getting the run-around) at several Best Buys. The sound is great, the remote, which I first laughed at as my kitchen is pretty small, has velcro and a magnet. It hangs off my microwave very conveniently.
The price is UNBEATABLE as is the quality. I ordered it because it's a Sony and I wanted either a CD player or Ipod connectivity. I saw it had a 3 disc changer, got it in the mail and lo and behold, it ALSO has a connector for my iPod.
Used the Paper to Mark holes-would of had installed in 10 mins but that last Hole gave me alittle trouble lineing up. Forgot to Copy Serial # down off top b4 installing ,hope I don't need later,hate to have to take down. Sony has a Great reputaion in my house,would highly recomend this Item.
Before I bought this item, I read the pro and con reviews which were very helpful and helped me decide to make the purchase; I made sure I used an outlet that didn't share with a major appliance, so radio reception is great. I didn't think it really needed a clock and timer. (there's always one on everybody's microwave and kitchen stove and how many does one need?)
I bought this unit last fall to be able to have music in the kitchen of our summer cabin. We don't get any radio reception and I was especially interested in the small, off-the-counter CD player.
Unfortunately the poor reception comes and goes, and changes with my body position next to the sink (try washing dishes without moving!) Fussing with power cable position is entertaining for bystanders but not particularly effective. But the worse disappointment was to discover that the radio does not retain its settings even after the briefest power glitch. (boy that capacitor probably would have cost Sony manufacturing a whole cent a piece... I'm not sure I could afford that!) That would be OK if device were designed to be tuned manually.
Great cd player with changer. The sound is wonderful and it also has a nightlight.
I am very pleased with the under the counter sony radio. It works great and i was very amazed that i received it within 2 business days when i ordered it.
I purchased this kitchen radio on Amazon after reading the reviews. Some people complained about the reception, the volume knob and the sound.
