Additionally, the "gentle wake" feature had nothing gentle about it. It was equally as loud as every other obnoxious alarm out on the market. I was expecting it to start off soft and gradually increase in volume, like my very old Philips alarm clock has done for many years. I was hoping that I could get rid of my 15 year old alarm clock (that looks like it's for a teen) and get something more grown up.
I bought this to replace a failed clock radio (a Philips AJ3980, now discontinued and no longer available). I'm not very impressed.
this is a great looking alarm clock to have at your bedside.
i'm also not thrilled with the display illumination.
the radio is very nice, however, i listen to am also, and there is no am reception.

As far as clock radios go, this one is pretty nice. It works as promised, has a nice sleek look, and doesn't take up a lot of space on the dresser.
finally a product with instructions that don't give you a headache! attractive, space saving, good quality sound.
I gave this to my son for Christmas after he complained about being startled awake every morning by his radio alarm even on low volume. He likes this much better.
