being an auto techncian for 16 years i know the value of quality tools.
Bought this saw to remove part of a post and beam barn which had 12 inch spikes to hold it together.
easy to use, blade changing is simple, heavy duty for most all home jobs, great ergonomics , excellent tool for the price.
for the infrequent user (once a month) or average user (major maintenance projects) this tool is rugged enough, powerful enough and dare I say indispensable.
I do not use power tools in my line of work.
these clamps are perhaps the most classic clamp for the woodshop.
clean this off before attaching the clamps so you won't mess up your wood.- i strongly recommend getting a set of rubber clamp pads when you order your clamp fixtures.
i personally like the crank style clamp as opposed to a thin wooden dowel or worse yet "squeeze type" handles.
if you work with wood, you need a few sets of these.
these things are great but i would suggest either making a pad or purchasing the pads tor the insides of your clamps to protect you wood as they will mar up sides of glued lumber with enough pressure.
this may be a little troublesome when you are clamping and want to close the jaw onto the wood.
Excellent set, seems like Jet has taken the best from the Bessey
I received this set of clamps several days ago and have been extremely happy with it!
I was not sure at first as I am a Bessey man through and through....
I'm not much for words but here it goes.
this is not a large vise that you can use with a hammer to bend or straighten metal and such, but its great to hold wood for sanding or wire for soldering.
as a wood carver, the stanly multiposition vise is equal to panavise or any other vise that cost much more.
i do small wood carving and needed a vise to hold my project while i used both hands carving.
well i bought this vice for my woodcarving shop, and this lttle vice is fantastic!
As a wood carver, the Stanly multiposition vise is equal to Panavise or any other vise that cost much more.
the rac made it very easy to attach a solid wood edging to the plywood top and attaching the sides to the top.
it holds the wood in the correct spot, creates a 90 degree angle, and allows for easy installation of screws, nails, etc.
this is especially true with harder wood.
I do have two as well as all their other clamps.
Wish the post end were a little thinner to fit in the hole easier, but it does hold the pieces at right angles.
the pony clam is a delightful clamp to use, but i'd rather just find a piece of scrap wood that is just the right size or spans two or more clamps.
I made this door out of 2x6 tongue-and-groove decking boards, which I needed to clamp together to attach 2x4 bracing.
I have installed these pads on all of my 3/4" pipe clamps because they work great!
Purchased several sets for my extensive clamp collection, and have been very satisified.
There is not much criteria one could comment on clamp pads.
i recomend it for hobbiests working with wood, jewelery, metal, etc.
i've used this vise for wood working projects (custom guitar parts) and cutting bolts and other remodeling work.
the vise left no marks afterwards due to its pressure adjustment handle, as this is a wooden clock.
this was obviously old, and as the vise mounts anywhere, i was able to attach it easily to a table AWAY from everyone else.
I mean perhaps its a good tool for those who barely ever put muscle into their work but I would like to believe that if I spend this kind of money that my darn tool would last a few years....not a few weeks!
if you are a woodworker with an occasional bit of metal to hold, you should consider the 1745 (also available at a good price here), as being of equal quality and a bit lighter, so you can mount it
I do a lot of home and auto repair as well as fabricate items out of metal.
Picked this vise up for my shop recently from Amazon.
Superb all purpose vise for general shop work, whether professional or home owner.
This vise is a champ.
they securely and quickly clamp the wood so that you can permanently attach with pocket screws.
never mind pocket hole joinery, every wood worker who needs to hold boards at 90 needs two of these - fantastic example of good design.
These clamps are a great addition to the wall of clamps we all have.
I have added this clamp device to my arsenal of joinery clamps.
If you mostly work alone, as I do, this is an excellent "third hand".
i use this clamp for everything from holding down wood on sawhorses to installing cabinets and i don't have any problems
that is an advantage when you do not want to mar the wood.
I bought two of these to use as spreaders when installing new slings on patio chairs - they worked, but just barely.
I have the 12" 18" and 36", I used the installing counter-tops in my kitchen and holding guides on my table saw.
It does not even compare in force to my pipe clamps, but the Quick-Grips are much quicker to put on than a pipe clamp, so I offten have clamped with the Quick-Grip first, then came back later and put on a pipe clamp.
As with the entire quick grip products the features that should entice you to buy and use the Quick-Grip 512QC Bar Clamp/Spreader are the ease of adjustment and the fact that it won't mar even the softest of wood yet still provide ample force for you...
I own several Irwin QuickGrip clamps in various lengths from 10" to 36".
I am a proud and happy IRWIN products owner.
In the process I have used virtually every clamp and strap device on the market.
I have used these clamps for years, and have proven to be a great investment around the shop.
as with the entire quick grip products the features that should entice you to buy and use the quick-grip 546 mini bar clamp are the ease of adjustment and the fact that it won't mar even the softest
As the other reviewers said, these are the handiest clamps to have.

Because of its size, this clamp does have some limitations; it cannot hold a great deal of weight or generate great amounts of pressure.
I have several of these clamps purchased in the late 90's when they were marketed by American Tool Companies.
DEC 2004 ENTRY: I can't believe how nice this stap clamp from Bessey is.
The only issue I had was that one or two of the pieces of wood that I used had slight warping and the tension produced by these clamps was not sufficient to overcome the defects in the wood.
I have been crafting serving trays and never found a good way to clamp a side cut at a 30 degree angle.
I recently purchased two of these clamps to try out.
This clamp has come to my rescue several times when building boxes, bookshelves, or anything where I need even pressure all around an object.
you might think a spring clamp is a spring clamp but after using a cheap chinese clamp and it has has dented your wood project you might look closer.
holding down a straightedge while marking a long line.the great thing about these clamps is that they go on and come off in a second, so you can hold wood down, do what you have to do, then turn
I use these clamps all the time.
You can buy [less expensive] versions of this clamp...The plastic wears off and then the metal edges show through.

Clamps can make or ruin a long prepared piece of work.
For maximum clamping power, the ý" pipe clamp is the way to go.
Good quality constuction, durable, easy to operate, sturdy and stable in high pressure applications.
All the different clamps hold very good but this one is, by far, the easiest to tighten, loosen and adjust!
These clamps are the little cousin of Pony's great 3/4" pipe clamps.
1 star is too many if you want to use these as clamps!
As noted in some of the other reviews, these clamps do not apply that much pressure.
Contacted the company and they sent new springs and instructions on how to fix the clamp so they won't fall out and now they have redesigned the clamp so no springs will fall out.
The jaw has a maximum opening of about 2", but to get a really tight grip, about an 1 1/2" thick or less works best.
I have a couple of these clamps as well as the quick grip bar clamps and C clamps and spring clamps.

these clamps are the better mousetrap in today's woodworking.

The big benefit to these is that you get true mobility out of them.
for woodworking, the rubber tip protectors provide some protection against denting the wood, although dents are still possible on some woods if excessive force is used.
they are easy to set up and use, they hold the piece tight and with the rubber pads they don't mar the wood.
Jorgensen 3712 12" Steel Bar Clamp
The Jorgensen along with the Pony pipe clamps are my favorites.
What's not to like from a company that makes clamps in many different configurations?
i have not used a steel hammer on them, just wood or plastic mallets.
the chisels are of fine quality and came in a very nice wood case with protector tips for each chisel.
these are not high quality japanese woodworking chisels (which cost about three times as much), but properly sharpened they will be serviceable for all but the most demanding woodworkers.
i'm a woodworker by trade and use them daily, beaten on them with a hammer regularly, no problems.
they come with a protective wooden case and plastic tip guards.
...
I use pipe clamps to glue together table tops.
Given the comments from other reviewers, I guess I should consider myself lucky Amazon did such a poor job packing the clamps I ordered!
Have not had a chance to use these pipe clamps yet but from I have seen of them they appear to be well made and engineered.
Stick with the threaded, every home center sells threaded pipe, and if they don't its not too hard to have them threaded.
