Like many other reviews I have read on Amazon, my mortiser arrived with damage. It was shipped in its original box and the 50 lb plus packaged was kicked around by the US Postal Service. from Amazon.com Just recieved my Jet mortiser and am very pleased with it's performance. My work is mostly recreational, but still what I consider high quality. from Amazon.com A project that calls for 120+ mortise & tenon joints convinced me to look past the drill press and chisel method for cutting mortises, and look into a mortising machine. It has done a great job. from Amazon.com PERFECT - not a dent on it! Since it was shipped by FedEx (and arrived in 3 days with Free Shipping), I figured Amazon had fixed the shipping problem. Unfortunately, after spending a solid 5 minutes getting the unit unpacked and mounted on the bench, my first mortise ended before it began. Turning on the power resulted in a slight "smack" and a hum. from Amazon.com I have looked at several mortisers and find the jet to be a fair tool but has more side play than I would like. I own several Jet tools, Cabinet saw, Drill press, dust collector and have been quite satisfied with the overall performance of these tools. from Amazon.com Just an update Amazon sent out a brand new machine 2nd day air right away and it arrived within 2 days. I received the pachage and inspected and signed for it myself - apparently no damage. Guess what I carry it to my workshop open it up and the whole top of the motor housing is bashed in!! So I again call Amazon and the CSR is exceedingly helpful and offers to try to send another one or refund my purchase price. from Amazon.com I just purchased the jet mortising machine through amazon.com. I recieved pretty quick witht the free shipping. from Amazon.com I set the hold down ever so slightly loose, and can slide the workpiece from one cut to the next. I am building a mission style coffee table now, and the mortises took a couple of hours including layout and machine setup...this process took the better part of a weekend before! No, this is not a floor type production mortiser, but it doesn't cost what one does either! For the home shop, it does a great job! from Amazon.com
