Text messaging has quickly become a popular and useful form of communication. If you are somewhere with a lot of background noise – a sporting event or a night club for instance – texting someone is easier and more reliable than calling them. To meet the demand of this new form of communication, manufacturers are making many phones designed specifically for text messaging.

Some of the phones best suited for this have built-in "qwerty" keyboards. These phones are usually designed so that the keyboard either swivels out from the side, or the top of the phone flips up to reveal a keyboard underneath. Some higher-end models, such as the Samsung Blackjack or the Blackberry, have full keyboards right on the front of the phone.
