Initially, I loved this unit. The sound quality is impressive, the disc change quick and quiet. But discs which had barely visible scratches or marks, and which played fine on other equipment, would skip or get stuck with a "shuddering" sound. from Crutchfield.com this was a bummer. the CD player skipped right out of the box. I took it in for service and learned that Yamaha does not authorize online sales and the warranty would not be honored. from Amazon.com This Yamaha 5 disc changer was purchased to replace our Sony super audio changer which lasted exactly 3 years before crapping out. The Yamaha has a richer sound and a much larger soundstage than the thin-sounding Sony. from Amazon.com I purchased this hoping it does not have any of the same issues I have had with a Sony 300 disc changer.
